Hi Popeye, I follow you closely to see what you are doing. Good that you fix that rail….. I don't know what Anja has for her Half Moon. We will see where it ends… She has now to make the railing so I think I give her a helping end ( If I can find the time ) But keep on going and she can use your Half Moon as a example

@ Wayne, Thank you very much SIR @ Patrick, Thank you also ! First I have to place all the blocks on the masts and then I go to the bowsprit. I hope next week that I have that also done. But I also have to work full shifts again. So I have to do it on my free days and there are not much of them @ Jan, I know exactly what you mean. I shall try to explain it , so everyone understand it….. We are living in a new house at the free sector. Because they build this house for energy saving, they have make the ceilings high. On the main floor it's about , from floor to ceiling, 2.70 meter. On the second floor it goes to the 3 meters, maybe a little higher. We have 3 bedrooms for just the two of us. So plenty of space. I hope that you understand what I mean. If not, send me a pm and I can explain it in Dutch. That's much easier for me

@ Adam, We have space enough in our hobby room to place 4 of those big ones….. No problem at all When they are finished, they are going in the hallway upstairs. That is from floor to ceiling almost 3 meters high. @ Popeye, Thank you. But the only way to take a full picture of her now, is to put her on the floor. Then I have no other objects in the neighbourhood …. And no worries, when she's on the floor and the door is closed, nobody enters ( I hope ) @ Mark, You are getting old Almost retiring???? SI is on the shelf, Anja is at work ! And I'm on the computer Ratlines are not that far away but when? First all the bitts and pieces on the masts and then the bowsprit. I let you know when I get started with that, so we can see what kind of music we are using

Thank you all again @ Jason, It's not that difficult. First you need plenty of space to build two of those big kits. Then when you have enough of one , goes to the other You can keep them at the same stage. And I see the Mirage as a learning ship for the San Ildefonso. Mistakes with one, you can avoid with the other. @ Larry, Thank you @ Augie, When she is standing in front of the door, i'm calling Anja that she has to stay downstairs…… And she listen to me Now she is back again, high on the shelf ! @ Robbyn, I can hear the sound of the applause….. @ Sherry, The measurement of the ship are : Length : 1290 mm Hight : 895 mm Width : 470 mm And when you see it in real it is huge ! @ Sam, Thanks And it is no cart but a workbench from Dremel….. No, not that one from Augie but from Anja It's a nice working standard. And I know only one sailor song….Girls Girls Girls form Sailor . And I like that videoclip from them ( the original )

Hi Mick, I have put all the mast together, but dry fit. This is just for the pictures. They are now in several pieces at the workbench. But there is still a lot to do before everything goes glued together. So, not much difference then. Thanks for the good word

Hi Mick, I have the same on my masts , those sheeves….. I try to make them on a spare part of dowel that I have left, and it not works…. I try the milling machine and that also don't work. So, no sheeves on my mast then…. I think when I go further, I damage the mast and that is not a thing that i want to.
-
It takes still a little bit more then 116 months before I'm retired, I can do something in the spare hours that I have left…… The mast are done. Everything is dry fit, so I can put all the stuff that's need on to the mast. And no, not the shrouds and ratlines after that. There is also a bowsprit that I have to do. When that is done, I can go to the fun part

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
