ASAT got a reaction from Scottish Guy in Professional Building Slip - Hobbyzone
Just got mine - 10 days transit! But it was intact with no damage (UPS) Assembling it now.... I would add that a sanding block of some sort should be added to the list of tools required- the knife cleans the parts ok but the nubs need to be sanded flush..... in fact after doing a few nubs I am just using a sanding block with 100 grit on it.... and I am using 3M contact adhesive for the adhering the white laminated piece’s.  just preference for laminating stuff...

Well I decided to give it a shot and ordered one, they’re back ordered! I didn’t find out till the order went through so now I have to wait- two weeks they said..... we’ll see..... they did give me a discount coupon for my next order for the inconvenience though, pretty cool of them!

Hey Jeff, or anyone that has actually used this slip - I’m interested but is it accurate? Can I slide the bulkhead upright guide into place and Have complete confidence that everything is square, level, and fair? Or do I have to get out my small square, or my machined blocks and verify that everything is in perfect position? If I have to do that I might as well just square up the bulkhead like I always do and move on.... in other words does this jig stay in alignment as you start using it or does it need to be “trued” every time you move it? Is it really effective or is it just nice to have? Thanks guys....

Been itching to start a POF model but decided to finish a couple projects that I have already started, so I’m continuing with the pear planking on my Revenge. I thought the 5mm planking provided in the kit was out of scale (too wide) so I’ve been using 4mm wide planks - takes a lot more planks but looks better to me. Golf and RC Glider flying season are still a ways off so hopefully I’ll make some good progress before then.

Wonderful! Absolutely fine work and what a great result! You are definitely doing great justice to this project! The gun placements, railings and stern balconies and just the overall symmetry and attention to detail in that last shot are so awesome! Great work Yves!

Are you aware that Chris Watton of Vanguard Models is currently developing a 1/64 scale kit of the Bristol? Not sure if you are wanting to scratch build but his efforts always produce the finest examples of the subjects he designs in kit form. I’m anxiously awaiting this one!

Wow, that reminds me of the vintage (1992) Mantua SOS kit I also have waiting in the wings….looking great - I’ll move further comments and talk of build logs into your Soleil log so we don’t clutter up Kevin’s build log….

Thanks for looking in, Malcom, Patrick and D. And thank you for the kind words. Well I finally got to the point where I can start the planking in earnest, with this hull shape I really didn’t want to do scale length planks so I pretty much doubled the length and I am using a 3 butt shift. I think this is what I am going to be doing for a while.... planking..... 😎
