This is becoming the #1 meeting for historical sailing ships in the Netherlands. keep that date free in your agenda and hopeful we can then meet Jan
  2. Frank nice job. I think I am going to save your buildlog for future use once I am workinh on the sails
  3. finally started with the rigging. first the standing rig. I am not so familiar with the English terms for the rigging, so I will show mostly pictures with small comments
  4. I finally managed to have some time in my workshop to proceed the main and foremast are ready now, waiting for the loading tackels and shrouds. I also prepared a tool to be used for finalizing the ropes on the blocks. I will show some details in practice later on.
  5. Thanks Mark, I will start study these topics. I hoped that the book Vasa II would be ready earlier, but I understood that Fred Hocker is busy with other things I am also searching now a good translation in the English terms vs the Dutch terms and I will also verify this information in copies of old Dutch books This will become my Summer school
  6. Hi Mark, Just a quick question, do you have a link with the discussions with Fred and Clayton concerning the rigging, as I am now preparing for the rigging of my Corel Vasa. Thanks
  7. started with the rigging finally toolbox for the rigging
  8. Correct Frank, rotating the model increases the change of unwanted damage. I have seen this turntable somewhere else on a forum and noted that I had also one which was used for our old Television.
  9. finally a restart. made a turnable table with the Vasa fixed on it is possible now to turn the Vasa to each position.
  10. Temporary workshop during the modelbuilding show last weekend in between several interesting talks with visitors I prepared some block for the platforms and mounted them for the foremast and mainmast and some blocks mounted on the masts coming period I will not post a lot, due to other jobs in the house (painting etc )
  11. for my followers in the Netherlands and Belgium: the Vasa can be seen on the modelbuilding show in Goes on 21 and 22 February. http://www.zeelandhallen.nl/evenementen/modelbouwshownl-2015
  12. the masts are fixed now the coming months will be a slow build due to some big modifications in my house (new windows in the bed-rooms)
  13. today finalized the canons next step will be checking the drawings for forgotten items before I start with the masts
  14. First of all thanks for all the likes a quick update of the canons mounted in the next step I will glue the other line on the canon and glue a separate roll of rope besides.
  15. started with the fixations of the canons, first rigged the small blocks then fixed these blocks to the canons using some glue to fixed the black eyes in the wall after that fixed the canon with some glue later on the other side of the ship and then make all loose ends correct.
  16. a dry-fit for the canons and already the blocks prepared
  17. slowly further with the canons the mounting of the canons has to wait till Christmas Holiday period (2 weeks off then )
  18. I agree that rigging is an intersting part of the build. Specially when you understand the use/function of eaxh line. I myself had some experience in sailing old sailinhboats from the beginning if the last century and this helps a lot
  19. I have used the same method, and the lions coudl be released from the tape without any problem (after approximately one week after finishing the yellow colour)
  20. This lools great. I am also planning to add this railing. Are you keeping this removable till rigging is completed as I expect that this will be very fragile during rigging
  21. I do not know the bb drawings in detail but I added an extra gunport
