It's great to see you back, Patrick.  I think all of hit a mild "burnout" point at some point.   Nice work on the engine room.   Will the engine live there or is this the machine room for all the services?

Hi Mark -aaah. Yep, “burnout” was the term I was searching for, but I couldn’t quite remember it. It was on the tip of my tongue  when I was writing the post...

The actual two engines are there, but you can’t actually see them as they’re obscured by all of the pipes and what not.

    Thanks

Great to see you back Patrick; and even better to hear you sounding 'chipper' about things.

    Hi Pat

Thanks. It’s good to be back, for sure.

    Have a great Easter

    Cheers.

  2. Hi everyone!

I’ve been a bit scarce on MSW over the past few weeks...I think I went into a ‘bad place’ and needed a break from the world of models and MSW.  Anyho, hopefully that’s all done and dusted now.

Thanks for everyone’s comments and feedback! Much appreciated, as always.

Here’s a quick update.  Over the last few nights, I managed to work on the Engine Room.   It’s the best I could do so far; given the small size of the model.

    I hope you like it.

    Cheers

  3. Hi Mark

Great to see you back at things with Licorne.  The ships boat looks marvellous.  Mistakes? what mistakes? LOL

All the best...and I’m so happy to hear that things have taken a turn for the better.  Onwards and upwards!

    Cheers

....catching up to your log.........so sweet!   your bevy of boats look great together.......and the spread out of the yacht's decks show the improvements you've made on her!  she's really coming along wonderfully!   your almost done.........have you given any thought of your next project?

    Thanks Denis!

Actually...I’m pretty sure than this one will be my next challenge:  https://www.yachtcharterfleet.com/luxury-charter-yacht-43054/okto-yacht-charter-printable.pdf.

    What do you think?

  5. Hi folks

My wife and I have just returned from 10 days in Vietnam.  What an amazing country (with all respect paid to the many Vietnam Vets here on MSW).

As the internet access was at best, patchy, my apologies for not following everyone’s logs.  I’ll catch up over the next week or so.

    All the best!

    Cheers.

    Hello Patrick

It sure is great for me to see that you have finally taken your Pandora down of the shelf, you sure have given me a lot of hints on how to build my Oliver Cromwell. I have spent the last couple of days trying to find out how to add the Ladder that leads from just in back of the Pantry up to the Great Room Deck. And here I look at your Pandora build and see that you have stacked these two Ladder Ways together. Thought that I may have had to cut into the Pantry to make room for the upper Ladder, but by doing that the little fellows may become hungry. Thanks very much.

You never fail to amaze me on just how much detail you can add in such a little space and here I struggle with an even larger scale. I will follow this one with great interest,                                  ENJOY.                                                Regards   Lawrence

    Hi Lawrence

Thanjs for the compliments, which are greatly appreciated. I’m glad that my photos have been able to help you, but the ladders are just as they were positioned in the Anatomy of the Ship book, (which I slavishly followed, whether rightly or wrongly).

Nonetheless, you’re doing a great job on your Oliver Cromwell. Pls keep the updates flowing.

    Thanks

Nah he was working under a serious deadline and had broken his coke bottle glasses and was working without them...it was all a bit blurry.

Patrick, the photos of all the interior detail in the group pictures shows how amazing this model is, your attention to the tiny details has really brought the odd vessel to life.  well done indeed!

    Michael

    Hi Michael

Many thanks - You may be right about the ‘coke bottle’ glasses, because this is a design that challenges one’s perception of what is considered normal, or beautiful.  But, therein lies the charm for me.  As soon as I saw her photos, I just knew that I had to build her!

    Have a great week.

    Cheers

Excellent Patrick - so is it back to boats now you have finished your intergalactic space cruiser?

Thanks Keith - I think you’re right.  These space cruisers are definitely out of my comfort zone.  There was a time when I used to only build wooden yachts, eg HMS Victory, Lennox, Pandora, etc.....

Thanks Pat - I hope so.  I reckon the quality of the painting and finishing is getting close to what i’m Aiming for (damn those close up photos under harsh lighting -they show up every imperfection and speck of dust).

Note to self - For all future models - Finish the painting BEFORE adding the details.  Much easier😏!

    Have a great week.

    Cheers

    Patrick
