Hi everyone and many, many thanks for your best wishes. Thanks especially to Michael, Crackers, Greg and Greg (DVM27), for your recent messages of support!
Well, I'm back!!! Got discharged a couple of hours ago. The surgeon found even more of the little buggers (which didn't appear on the CAT Scans or X-rays) and he was able to get rid of all of them. Thank God.
Incidentally, Greg's comment about the pain being worse than childbirth was verified by the nurse who wheeled me into the operating room. She said that she felt for me because the pain was indeed worse than childbirth! How did she know? Well, she was pregnant at the same time as having kidney stones!!! If anyone could verify such a comparative statement, I reckon she was uniquely qualified to do so.
Anyhow, the recovery process has started and I hope to be back on deck in a few days.
Thanks everyone for all of your support and best wishes.

Symbolic milestone - all frames installed!
Now need to install that tricky transom frames and wings, something that will represent hawse timbers, and cut the gunports.
And then - start the magical process of fairing!

I wouldn't call that a symbolic milestone at all, Mike. It's a real one and a big one.. Congratulations.

Omega1234 reacted to Timmo in Cruizer-class brig by Timmo - FINISHED - 1:36 scale - RADIO
The bulwarks are now fully planked, giving the shape of the completed hull.
The first 'mechanical' piece has also been added in the form of a brass tube to carry the tackle for the spanner boom. It exits through the taffrail and was shaped to fit around the chase ports and flow into the hull cavity.
It's not strictly accurate having the boom belayed to the centre of the taffrail but it's one less hole in the deck where water ingress is more likely and also avoids the potential of fouling the steering gear and lines once the tiller is on the rudder head.
Although it's sanded fairly smooth I'll plank the inside of the rear counter to avoid any texture issues.

Looks like you've captured the hull perfectly - I'm suffering from 1:36 Cruizer envy

Hello everyone

... hmm, sorry! - I mean covering with canvas.
Best regards,
Mike

Mike, your ring of wood looks very nice. I have a concern though that with time the ring might fracture because of the difference between end and face grain. i think it would have a lower chance of distorting if you made it from segments of vertical or quarter sawn grain the stresses on the ring would then be equal around the perimeter.
There is a potential for the wood to move in a more uneven way when it is made from a solid piece.

Best of luck from a fellow three-time sufferer Patrick. Passing a kidney stone is much more painful than passing a kid (statement verified by women, I would never make such a claim). You should try to incorporate your kidney stone (they're surprisingly small) into Majellan to make a really personal model.

Hi everyone
Today I actually started on Magellan's hull. As mentioned before, I intend to fully fitout Magellan's interior accommodation; all four decks of it. How I intend to do this is by allowing each deck to be lifted off so that the interior can be viewed. Talk about a challenge!!! Oh well, if you don't try, nothing would be achieved.
So, without further ado, the photos below show the start of the hull. It may not look like much, but, hopefully it'll turn into one hell of a beauty! A very long way to go, of course...
Wish me luck!
Cheers

Hi folks
As I'm fast approaching the completion of my current model, "Symphony", now's a good time to reveal my next project - a miniature model of a 37 metre luxury motor yacht, which I will name "Majellan". The plans will be loosely based on an existing ship, whose plans I found using using Google.
The model will have a fully detailed interior (well, as much as I can replicate at this tiny size, anyway)! Majellan's interior layout consists of the following decks:
-Lower Deck;
-Main Deck;
-Upper Deck; and
-Sun Deck.
The profile of the ship is provided below:
I hope to commence construction as soon as I can figure out how to build the darn thing!! Talk about a challenge.
If you're able to, I'd love it if you could please join me on Magellan's journey.
Cheers
