Gil, i have struggled with the appearance of my build for a couple of months now - not quite knowing, why - wondering if i was looking for excuses to avoid getting on with her. Today having read your log again - i now know what is wrong - ever since the gun port lanyards were put on i have been itching to rip them off and try again, even though the replacements were going to be made the same - all of a sudden it dawned what was wrong, they are to bright, tonight i toned two pairs down just to see what difference it made, and was pleasantly surprised how quickly they no longer shouted - HEY LOOK AT ME, Thankyou

Wow - what copper journey, just caught up with your log, and thought how nice the false keel, looked, i may do that on mine, i like the appearance of the ageing tiles, - but i will have to clean them again with brasso before final completion, as i keep replacing the occasional one, l looks a bit patchy as a result. I will follow you progress and await the final chapter with the final coating

just a suggestion - instead of using acetate, try pva glue watered down or one of the widow making film liquids, it would give it a more realistic appearance

Good afternoon, some progress on my build, the fore deck is complete with the exception of the cannons. I t has taken a little while to get back into it, not being 100% and the weather here, like in many other places has been - well - poor nothing is fixed into position yet, hence some bits look not quite level - good to be back

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
