Nirvana reacted to Ryland Craze in New member and modeller
Hi Zac and welcome to Model Ship World. We are glad to have you as a member.

Welcome to MSW, Zac. I can't add to the above advice as they've pretty much said it all.
You can, by using the search feature (upper right hand side) search for the kit builds of you models. By looking at other build logs of the same model, you might save some aggravation as someone has already ran into any problems you might have.

Zac, welcome to MSW from the UK. My advice is to read the advice above, it is all good. I am looking forward to your build logs.
FWIW, I can't think of a better reason to get into this hobby than the one you gave: an interest in the history behind the ships. A model shipwright and an amateur historian are heads and tails of the same coin.
Ask questions! 👍

Nirvana reacted to 72Nova in Vasa By 72Nova - FINISHED - Airfix - PLASTIC
Nirvana, I'll try my best to produce something close to resembling her as she appears, but at this scale any modification seems out of scale a bit. harlquin that is tempting.
As I continue to open up the port side gun ports I decided to perform the necessary mods to the galleries, removing the molded scalloping on the roof, scribbling the planking on the underside, opening up the galleries and clinking the roof.

The gallery roof just did not fit tight enough up against the domed sections, I've extended the forward section of the roof and you can see how much the rear section needs to be extended, once that's done I can finish the roof, using printer paper for this process.

Nirvana reacted to James H in HMS Indefatigable 1794 (prototype) by James H - Vanguard Models - 1:64 - FINISHED
It'll be a little difficult on a fully rigged ship.
You can open things up more if you wanted though.

Nobody will want to build the quarter deck and hide this beautiful cabin from the view. Maybe Chris will design a removable deck to show the interior....

This shows just how right Chris was to make the furniture (as well as his figures) - the additional detail and accuracy brings to life what is a stunning model.

I re-took the photo of the cabin area as there was too much glare on the deck and the background was dirty.
So, here it is.

Starlight and Zac, don't only take pictures to upload to MSW but save it to your own drive. It's always good to have.
More pictures are better than few.
My saved build logs also have copied helpful information from members so I can easily go backwards and find what is needed quicker than using MSW.

Zac, A warm welcome to MSW.
I am looking forward to read your build logs, and I know you will do it.
You have more than 40000 members backing you. Ask questions even for something trivial.
Many (I guess most) of our members don't belong to any clubs to get help or support from.
That's why we are here. Think of us as a huge club where help is available 24/7.

Nirvana got a reaction from BANYAN in T37 rebuild by Nirvana - Tippecanoe
After some time in hiatus, I got my dear T37 back in the water some weeks ago.
However, when sailing with others I noticed my yacht started to get sluggish with the maneuvers.
When I got her back to the pier, I saw how low she was sitting in the water. And yes, I am glad I got her back in time.
There was a good quarter inch of water inside of her. Fortunate no electrical equipment got damaged.
So I have her back in the shop ripping some deck planks which was in need of replacement.
New material has been ordered.
Removing epoxy glued parts is a pain and when sanding a good mask is in need.
She will also get new sails.
