Good morning, Bob...

and thank you very much for your visit to my log and especially for your advice regarding the correct flag for the Bluenose.  I plan to look around today in order to find the right flag which hopefully will be more accurate then the one that came in the kit.  Your build is just downright beautiful .  I admire the detail you accomplished and especially the way you treated the attachment of the gaffs to the masts.  Wikipedia was useful; many thanks again.  I hope you have a terrific day.

Best,

Jerry

Hello Popeye...

Well I still have a little bit to do on the Bluenose.  I;m waiting for a flag to arrive; the one supplied in the kit is too modern for the Bluenose era.  I have some painting touch ups to do and I need to build a cradle for the display case.  But sooner or later I'll get stir crazy and probably will look for something to make.

Take care,

Jerry

Jerry,

Congratulations on the build!  It looks great!  Selfishly, I'm little sad to see that you've finished :). Your regular updates and progress really helped to me motivated during the slow time on my own build!  Can't wait to see what you tackle next!

Hello Lawrence..

Thanks for the visit.  I'm very thankful that the eye surgery was successful and I was able to keep going on the hobby. Next??  Don't know but I don't think I can hang around the shipyard too long without a project.  Problem is we're running out of display space.  Oh well, there are still some walls around with nothing hanging on them.  Charlene sends her regards and asked to be remembered to Bernadette.

Hello Dave.. (generic Dave)

You are much too modest.  I have visited your site from time to time and have admired your attention to detail.  The construction methods you have used are awesome and the deck furniture is stunning.  There is no comparison to my efforts.

Many thanks for taking the time to write to me; I appreciate your remarks and your friendship.

Best,

Jerry

Hello once again, Everybody...

Bluenose has finally been completed.  It took quite awhile to receive the proper flag from a Canadian resource but it arrived today and was quickly attached to its proper place.  The cradle and nameplate are finished also and all that remains is the arrival of the display case.

I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and look forward to meeting you all again when the new project begins.

Best,

Jerry

Jerry,

What a great Christmas gift to yourself having Bluenose done.

Hello Per....

and many thanks for your new visit.  I waited quite awhile for this flag to arrive but the quality is well worth the wait.  This "Red Ensign" was purchased from Cast Your Anchor of Toronto, Canada. (castyouranchorhobby.com)   Here is a closer look at it.

Best,

Jerry

Hello Jon..

Many thanks for your visit to my log and for your happily accepted comments.  The lines of the schooner are beautiful!  The Bluenose is an exceptional ship that was before her time as far as dynamics were concerned.  But like everywhere else it was necessary to pay for upkeep  (maintenance) so the ship was able to make itself over into a fishing boat whose catch paid for it.  I enjoyed this build and am only sorry that I didn't abandon the practicum and complete the much detail that is shown on the kit's plans.  With more patience one of these days I'll do as best as I can and come up with a fully detailed to scale ship. Now I can use a brief siesta.

Best and a Happy New Year!!

Jerry
