Hi,

The source of this project is the “Plan of HMS Surprise, 1796 Lines and Profile,  from the Royal Museums Greenwich (Publisher code J5948).

The drawing was imported into a cad program,  traced, and a scaled working set of drawings printed.

Hi,

It’s been a while.  I’ve been busy with the frames.  They are all in place now,

and it’s time to start working on the clamps and stern framing.  Thank you Aviaamator.

The scale is presenting a challenge.  I wear an OptiVisor most of the time while building.

Walter

Love it - very nice subject.  Cool to see small scales being built too.  Any particular reason you went small?  After reading the Phillip Reed books, it's amazing to see what kind of detail you can get at such small scale, yet have a model that doesn't take up as much space as a 1:64 or 1:48.

Very cool project you have here. I admit I was drawn in by such a small scale as I was curious as to what you could do with wood at those tiny dimensions. Impressive so far! The smallest I have gone with wood was a 1:150 Bounty model. It was a solid hull with minimal detail. It was a fun build but a bit to small for my comfort. Looking forward to seeing your Surprise come along!
