Below are some photos of a Royal Barge, 1823, built by David Antscherl. The techniques of construction are identical to those in his new book The Greenwich Hospital Barge of 1832. The clinker planking and delicate fabric covered awning are what drew me to her. Perhaps this belongs in the completed models section but I have added some construction photos because I thought many readers might be interested in them.

I might have missed this in an earlier post, but is the material for the flag silk span?  Also, what is the material used for the cover?

Thanks

Allan

Both are of SilkSpan, Allan. The tasselled fringe is of treated canvas. The canopy is not shown on the lines drawing, but I found an oil painted elevation showing this, the color scheme and ensign on the Royal Museums Greenwich web site. (BHC 1117)

Now that is beyond beautiful. I am hopping that after the knee surgery that sometime this summer I will go and see Kevin in England and then go to the NMM and see all the excellent stuff that is still shown there and of course the Victory and the Warrior. But I will go there in 2017 that is for sure.
