Well, I got the shipyard open again and actually got to do a little work.  Good to be back.....

 

I worked on the Pump and Brake apparatus that attaches to the Windlass Bit.  I broke out the trusty Resistance Solder tools, and used 1/16" square brass tubing and some .032" brass rod to form the metallic parts, assembled and painted and installed finally a few minutes ago.  Here is a series of pictures for you know who and to show you guys I really am back......

Here is a couple of more showing how I had to pin the pieces.....the hardest part about using the Resistant Solder Iron is the ground clip. The cable is large, heavy and very stiff which would make things move around...even pinned. But it does such a nice job.

Looking very nice John !  Glad you are building again    Hmmmmm, better treat that fire hydrant with Preparation H to shrink it so Cosmo can do what doggies like to with hydrants

Hi Piet, yes, back to building some again.....the fire hydrant is giant scale compared to Cosmo....he definitely needs one scaled to him....he usually has no problem marking everything with a different smell.....ha

Again, Welcome back John. Nice to see the progress. I have to check out one of those resistance soldering irons. I have the 'old fashioned' internal heat ceramic kind and it is fairly unwieldy for fine work.

Hi Dave, thank you, it's good to be back to work. I'm glad you like the solder iron. Mine is the least expensive Micro Mark one. I've had it for a while now, and this is the first time I've used it. I love it. It's like instant heat at the joint and it only heats the joint. It has a ground clip (cumbersome) a carbon tip on the iron, and a foot switch for powering on and off. Frees up the hands for working. You need the solder pad, and their solder and flux that they sell to make it work right. I highly recomend for metal work.

I've done a little work on the head.  This was fun.  The plans show it as just a structure......but I improvised and included the hole and I will leave the door open so you can see inside.  All I have to do is mount it to the ship and finish the door.......then "The Outhouse " is complete.
