Just finished the second planking on the top part of the Hull. It was probably my least favorite part of the build so far. I don't know what it was about but I just didn't like to do it and was looking forward to be done with it.

I drilled all the holes to simulate the tree nails.

I will be traveling for the next 2 weeks sono further progress would be expected.

Ok. I have started this build two months ago. My goal was to give it to my daughter school for Thanksgiving. Unfortunately, life happen and I was not able to complete this build during the short time. One more month and a half would have been great.

This is where I am now.

I am going to take a break to allow me to go back and finish the Marie Jeanne.

I think you did great under the time pressure. And you motivated me to get moving on my Mayflower. I've been at it at least a year off and on, and I'm well behind you. But your log helped me figure some things out.

How did you paint those gold swirly shapes on the beakhead? Freehand?

A new project for my daughter. She started Kindergarten. I am planning on giving this build to the Elementary School around thanksgiving. I know I am starting a bit late.

I might be over my head...🤔

As things have worked out it seems you were prophetic about the time required and the actual time available.  But, while you haven't gotten to the masting and rigging yet, perhaps if you just installed some lower mast stubs and presented it as the admiralty models were done, that would suffice for now.  Just present it as a work in progress that you could finish and give it to the school after completion.  After all, we are just talking about five or six year old kids.  I think at that time in my life, I would have been impressed with that much.  After all, it was enough for the admirals, way back when! :D

Thank you!

Yes, it is freehanded. I draw a shape with a pencil and use the fine tip paint brush with gold paint. My original plan was to use a pen with liquid gold but it was dry (too old).

At the end, the brush was just fine.

Just wondering if you are going to finish your Mayflower for this year’s Thanksgiving. I enjoyed following your build log, your work is very good.

I have failed to finish it yet. I worked on a lot of other projects like a caronade, the Syren and a few models repair and upgrade for families of fellow Ship Modelers that could not finish their ships.

But updates are coming.

After hours of work, I finally completed the ratlines on the ship's rigging. Although the task was not particularly difficult, it was incredibly tedious, and my hands were tired from tying countless knots. But the sense of accomplishment I feel now that it's done is well worth it. I'm eager to move on to the next step and start working on the standing rigging. Regardless, I'm excited to keep making progress on this project and see it come together piece by piece.

Thank you! Initially, I believed the build would be complete in just 1.5 years, but how mistaken I was—it's turned out to be a 6-year journey. LOL. I've been observing your progress from the early stages. Looking forward to seeing you get back at it😊
