G'day All

Looks like I'm not the only member from Australia.
Just getting into the hobby.  Only just bought the HMS Endeavour Longboat, and keen to get a start on the model.  Have read all the build logs from other members.  And will take all recommendations.  May not post a build log as yet, but I will wait and see.
Have been doing plastic models for years and am a keen woodworker.  Also make knives on the side.

Loving the hints and tips from other members.  Seems like a great source of info and advice.

Welcome, Colfitz. Looks like you just posted (it says 19 minutes ago!) so I get to be the first to welcome you. Probably something to do with time zones.

The Endeavour longboat seems to be a popular choice and from what I can make out seems to also be a successful one. With your experience in both modelling and woodworking you start with advantages over many who begin here.

I would, though, recommend you start a build log. It's a great way to get help and advice from others who've already been through the same trials and tribulations which you're bound to face every now and then in your project. And anyway, from a selfish viewpoint, we like to see pictures of models in progress :P

Good luck with it all, and have fun!

Welcome to MSW, Colfitz.  Steven gave the best advice and I can't add to it.

Welcome to Model Ship World ColFitz.  You have been given good advice in the above replies.  I hope you start a build log on your Endeavour Longboat.  We all like to see other members work plus it is very encouraging to share your progress of your build with other members.

Gday All
Wow I never thought there would be someone close Mike.  Good to know.

And yes I will take the advice.  I started the build Sunday (It was raining so couldn't forge a modelling hammer I am making).  Photos taken but I will hold off putting it up until I get a bit further along.  Watch this space!!

Don't put your log here in this topic/area.    Put in the build log area, please.
