Greetings from Italy 🇮🇹

Recommended Posts

Hi there! I am Carlo and I live in Italy. I've been reading this forum from time to time since a few years now, but I have never opened a topic.
I have a small blog and YouTube channel called Tagliamare, where I talk about model ship making. The channel goal is to help novice ship modellers getting into the world of ship modelling.

There is still a lot I need to learn and a lot I can do to help others by participating to this community 😃

Cheers!

Buongiorno and welcome to MSW Carlo.  It is nice to see you promoting our hobby and showing folks your own methods such as the planking in your video.

Where in Italy are you located?  I had the good fortune to work in Italy making numerous trips each year for over 30 years to Toscana and Lombardia.  No longer being able to visit your country as often is one thing I do not like about retiring.

Ciao

Allan

Wow, such a small world 😃 I love Toscana, I studied in Siena and from time to time I go there for short holidays. I live in the Marche region in a small village close to Ancona but I work in Rome (after the pandemic my company allowed us to work from home and this was a game changer for me. So many hours saved that I can spend in building model ship).

I worked in a small village, San Casciano (VP) but usually stayed in hotels in Firenze as the clients that traveled with me would usually bring a wife or girlfriend (never both on the same trip) and they would want to be in Florence while we went to work.  I also spent a lot of time at a company called Universal Pack in Cattolica not too far north of you.   Some of the best seafood in the world is in your area!!

I just started to watch your whale boat videos and have learned something today, thank you for posting your methods.

You have an expert ship modeler across the country from you not far from Pisa that I plan to meet for lunch with our wives in September.  Check out his build log here at MSW.

Ciao Carlo

I know San Casciano, very close to Firenze. Clever client btw ehehe.

Yes there are a lot of arsenal ship modellers here in Italy. I don't think I know Matiz though. It is nice you two meet thanks to this passion 😃

Carlo, I took a look at a couple of your videos.  Sure wish you were around when I had to fabricate my bow sprit support out of a brass strip for my Jolly Boat.  You made it look so easy.  I found out I was using the correct tools but I was fighting myself by not using them to my full advantage.  And your seizing of blocks to masting sure looks a lot easier than the method I've been using.  Look forward to watching more or your videos and learning additional skills.  Thank you for joining the group.

Take care and be safe.
