Trying to solve a problem with PVA causing very thin wood to curl.  I visited my local hobby shop and found this.. 20 minute working time epoxy.  I didn't know they made such a thing but I think it'll fill the bill as testing is very positive/.

You picked the absolute best brand of epoxy.  I use only Bob Smith epoxies.  I use 5, 15 and 30 minute.  Bob Smith is the only brand of C/A that I use.

Same here.  Our local hobby shop "rebrands" it with a label that has their logo which, I understand, is/was pretty common.

Your hobby shop doesn't rebrand it.  Smith does that for any store or business when they order the second time - they ask and if you want it the do it from then on.

You will see that Model Expo and others use it too.

Ah.... I've wondered about that.  For some reason, I though the hobby shop did it.

When using 5-minute epoxy (JB Weld has worked well for me) in small quantity, I'll 'finger-mix' it on the end of a door shim to incorporate it well ... actually 'whipping' it a bit.  Soon I sense the temperature of the mix start to rise and the viscosity begin to thicken as it 'kicks'.  I might use the index finger as an applicator in some cases, or wipe everything off and use a dental tool if convenient to the application.

There will be just enough time to position whatever is being glued, and I'll leave it alone and do something else for a while.

Well, I waited for the wood to settle in by running the A/C and getting the humidity out of the air.  Put the glue down and the deck and clamped  used some weights.  Then I waited over night.  All is well.  The glue dries almost flat in sheen and holds securely.  I'm putting this on list of "go-to's" where normal wood glue may create issues. I'll upload a photo in my log probably tomorrow as there somethings I need to fiddle with first.

A couple of things on epoxy Mark:

It can be very messy, uncured epoxy though can be cleaned with vinegar (Epoxy is alkaline)

Different epoxies can be very different, some flexible and some not, however they are generally all brittle. Epoxy thickened with something (I use gypsum) is far stronger. It also fills gaps very well.

In cold weather, if the 2 parts become very thick, a few secs in a microwave restores them.

Thanks for input,Vaddoc.   I've used other epoxies in the past and there are limitations and considerations to be sure.
