hi Wim very n ice progress :)

what i found is the best way to hide gaps is by instead of making the meeting ends staight put them angled so they cover eachother a bit that way you can clamp them better and afterwards a bit of sanding wil make it almost invisible

Looking good, Wim. I found the tail structure to be the most poorly designed part of the smaller kit. Very aggravating to try to get the two tail fin pieces shaped, attached, and properly lined up.

This has got to be one of the coolest ships I've seen on MSW.  Props to you for building it.  It's looking great keep it up.

Thans Daniel for looking in.

The cherry was more easy to bend than I thought.

Placing the deck on the hull. Needed some creative clamping.

Just found your log Wim. What an interesting subject to model! Looks like you're doing a fine job. I look forward to following your build.

I am very excited to see this build. This is a kit I have seen several times and had been very tempted to purchase. I have also seen the documentary on this as well and have always been interested in the nautical history of the south East Asia area. I will be watching this very closely. So far it is a beauty.

Hi Wim,

I just came across your build and was extremely interested and impressed.  I have been hosting a pair of Korean college kids and they gave me the small Geobukseon kit as a gift.  I built it and was now interested in someday doing a more scale version.  So your build log has my complete attention.

Also watched the "Admiral", very good movie and a must watch if building this subject.  We all hear about the European and Mediterranean naval engagements and ship design, but the Asian conflicts and navel design not so much.

Regards,

Scott

Thanks for looking in :)

@LA Don

This model is the 1/65 one, but at the time I bought this one it was not available at Amazon, only in South Korea. Still remembering  shipping, customs and tax price.....

@Scott

Very nice gift from Korea you got from kids. You are ready for Japanese fleet to battle.

Just ordered "The Admiral" on DVD, cannot wait to see it...

Both side roars are placed, so second deck could be glued.
In the middle there is a jig, which was in the kit.
It is intented to obtain the right shape in the roof.
TurtleShip077.jpg

Two planks over the jig.
TurtleShip078.jpg

TurtleShip079.jpg

Some guns and fences on second deck and removed jig.
TurtleShip080.jpg

Normally you only plank the hull...now roof too.

Just finished going through your log Wim, you are doing a fantastic job. I came across the Turtle Ship while reading the NRG Journal if my memory still works. This is the first model I have seen built. I did notknow there was a kit of it out there. Keep up the good work.
