  1. Your work is superbe. I love the netting. Enjoy the vacation. Mort
  2. I went the same thing you are in the middle of. Now I have a great room to build my ships. It was worth the wait in spite of the withdrawls I experianced. Mort
  3. Hi Ray, Great job on the planking. Those butt planks are fantastic. I look forward to more posts. Mort
  4. She looks great. It really is an accomplishment. You should feel proud. Mort
  5. Noxon has been around forever. We used it when I was in the Army to polish our uniform brass. It was great stuff. Mort
  6. Hi Jason, You are correct. There is no way one can build this kit in 3 months and this is not a knock on the kit. I am very happy with it. Does any one have any idea if these ships had gunports? I am thinking of adding them as the deck seems very exposed to the sea and would like some feedback on this. Mort
  7. The lower deck planking looks great crisp and clean. I have always had great results with a #2 pencil run on one edge of my deck planks. This looks nicer. Mort
  8. Hi Ray, I will be following the build closely, taking lots of notes. You are off to great start. She will build into a great ship. I have the kit under my worktable and hope to build her next in about a year or so when I complete the Snake. Mort
  9. Thanks for the feedback on the plates. I would rather overlap them. Where is the best place to order extra plates? I am used to dealing with Bluejacket and Model Expo. It is just a mental thing to have to deal with another company. I wish Aeromarime was easier to hook up with. They are the people I bought my 3 Caldercraft kits from but they never answer the phone. Thanks, Mort
  10. Hi Guys, I would like to overlap my copper plates but I am hesitant to because I do not want to run short. Mort
  11. Thank you for reposting this. I really appreciate it. Mort
  12. I too am going to apply a matt varnish to my hull when I finally paint it. I think it protects the paint besides adding to the overall appearence. Mort
  13. Your stern is very impressive. I like the fact that you assembled the stern entirely separate and then glued it to the hull. I do not know if I would have thought to do it that way. Mort
  14. Hi Rosemarie, Great job. Keep up the great work. Mort
  15. Hi Gil, Welcome back. Glad to hear you were able to recover your log. Your log is priceless. Now you know why god invented children. The other reason was grandchildren. Be well my friend, Mort
  16. I emailed Caldercraft last week. I had an issue with the belaying pins for my Snake - but I have not recived an answer. Mort
  17. Sorry Patrick, I meant should you have - and you may have - used heat to shape the stern before attempting to glue it to the hull, thus having it curved and fully shaped before it was glued there by avoiding the the corners snapping off. I am asking so I will be able to avoid them snapping off when I build my Vic. Thanks, Mort
  18. Hi Jim, Welcome back and thanks for posting. Hopefully some of the other Snake builders will soon join us. I have just finished sanding the hull after the second planking and attaching the wales. I am waiting for my grandson to arrive- next weekend- and then we are going to paint the bulworks red. Until then I am starting to assemble the guns. Question do you know if the carronades would have been rigged with a train tackle at the rear? As of now I plan to rig the train tackle. Thanks, Mort
