  1. I am done !! long hours involved , a lot of learning lesson, mistakes along the way but a lot of fun building with ship. It is a bittersweet feeling to be done. Below is their version versus my take on it. Ready for my next build
  2. Thanks Elijah! I am very excited to complete this built. I am getting eager to focus my attention on my AVS.
  3. Last night, I was able to finish the jibs and achieve a good look with the furling. I am pretty pleased with it. A few more lines and it is a wrap. I could have added more details but with the lack of historical information and poor planning on my part it is too late. Again this a 'training' ship for me to test and learn about ship modelling.
  4. Nicely done Ulises!! A nice steady pace . I am looking forward to your next post.
  5. MAGNIFIQUE!!! Beautiful ship, you have done an amazing work on it. I love the authentic, worn look you gave her. Well Done Frank!
  6. Wow! You did an amazing work on the standing rigging. I cannot wait to see the next 'chapter' with all the intricate running rigging.
  7. Small update. I have been extremely busy at work. Hopefully, it is the weekend and I might some time to work in the shipyard.
  8. Wow, awesome ship! Congratulations for completing this build, you have done a outstanding job!
  9. Hi Joe, Thank you for the kind comments. I am happy to hear that the information I posted was useful to you. You are doing a fantastic job on your build. Looking forward to make postings! Meanwhile, I will continue furling away...
  10. Yay!! Some cutting and building in progress Looking forward to your next post...
  11. Thanks Elijah! There is no sail attached to the bottom spar in this type of ship. That been said, all other sails will be furled. I am unfortunately more and more unhappy about my ratlines.I used the rigging supplies from the kit and they are horrible. All the additional work on the sails is highlighting the mediocrity of the ratlines implementation. Taking them down and redo that would be a major project and I am not sure it is possible physically and mentally (sort of speak) JP
  12. Diverted from the directions a bit, by trying to make the attachment a little bit more realistic . I think it was pretty successful. It is now attached.
  13. Thank you Brian. I will look into this replacement program. As for your recommendations for using the planking as a thickness meter, I like it and will likely implement it.
  14. Little break from my AVS until I get the courage to cut the rabbet. Some sail furling.
  15. Hi Nils, I typically like Sailing rather than steam or modern era vessels but you may have converted me. Your build is outstanding this far. Excellent craftsmanship!
  16. Thanks for the advice Dave ! I am using the first chapter (free teaser) as support. I cannot get myself to broke the bank for the full guide. There is other tools I would prefer to invest in instead. Some drama with a bulkhead, which broke in 2 when doing the dry fitting. I guess this is learning experience #1: bulkhead = fragile. I was able to get it fixed. I traced the bearding line in preparation to start on the rabbet line. The direction for this step are rather cryptic and requires some head scratching. Any suggestions? JP
  17. So it began! Freed the bulkheads and removed some of the laser burn marks. First challenge, the keel is warped, I will need to make it straight again.
  18. Thank you Alistair! I will certainly reach out. Your log has been bookmarked along with Brian's, Zoltan's and Dave's.
