Flagship Models had an extensive line of ACW ironclads, primarily in 1/192 scale, but the owner passed away. Luckily for modelers, the line was picked up by Squadron Models. I believe they intend to re-release these kits in the future. 🤞

Thanks Keith, there is nothing on there yet, so fingers crossed for the future

Ian, there's not much out there. The first link is a bit interesting but nothing like the USS New Ironsides in the 2nd and 3rd links. The 2nd link is for reference only as it's a commercially completed model. The only model I could find is a paper model, see 3rd link. Paper models are way out of my league but you might be able to use it as a guide to scratch build?

Thanks Keith 😁 I was so surprised about such an obvious gap in the market, the American market for such a kit must be large excluding the rest of the world..they are so distinctive that it would stand out in my world of sail..

  3. slowly getting there-- how come life keeps getting in the way?--doesn't it know I'm trying to build a boat LOL !

I made the small boat flotilla. I am in the process attaching them and then doing the lashings.. If you look close the two most inner boats by the mast  are lashed the others are all just placed in position.

I will always fondly remember the Ar 196. The 1/72 scale Airfix kit is one of the earliest models I can remember building with my Dad back in the 60s. I built another one when I was old enough to do the job by myself.

I made loads of airfix kits in the 60/70s but not that one.

My friends and family laugh, I'm a complete plane nut but only make model ships lol

As I never knew anything about the Ar 196 I bought this book. I was very impressed about how capable an aircraft it was..

Thanks for all the likes 😄
