    Hi Jessie,
Before I bought my torch I used Solder-it, a low temperature soldering paste.  It is available from Amazon, among other places.

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0058ED0GO?keywords=solder%20it&qid=1446389742&ref_=sr_1_1&sr=8-1
Ideal for speeding up soldering tasks Works with the heat of a match or lighter Will join 22 different combinations of metals Easy-to-use, no mess, no-waste syringe 7.1 grams .
No, its not as good as silver soldering, but that requires a pretty good investment and can be difficult to master. It seems to hold up well, especially in areas that do not experience much pressure or pull.  Mine, so far, have held up just fine.

You might want to try it.

Vivian: Hola Linda. So nice to hear from you again, although on the other hand, saddened to hear you have had some rough times.

Wish you the best, my dear and hope that everything turns OK for you.

    Janet,

I thank you very much, again, for your words.

    Denis,

Loved to see a new comment on her. For the past few months life took hard on my way. It´s a honor to be seen like that, thank you.

I hope to post some new work in the next few days - Not only for the junk, but also my Oseberg. ^^

Thanks for every "like" everyone has clicked too ;)

Hans, that remembers me when I was trying to build a medieval village on 1:50 scale with tavern/inn included - maybe that´s a call for some dioramas on my future. Makes me think on building a floating restaurant, too :P

Joe, that´s something to wait from all of my buildings, more and more. Thank you.

Carl, to answer properly, muito obrigada!!!

Raymond. I´m getting ready for some challenges soon. Next kits I´ll try to do more than one at the same time as I already am hoarding some POF material (both for reading as for building) - I´m anxious for fully scratching a ship. Ty for your words, amigo.

    Piet, glad u liked !!

Hi Bruce. I must confess about the draw plate....it's Chinese, but Tungsten Carbide. The Byrne's Drawplate was way too small and too hard to use. I'm going to try the new one out, and if it works I'm going to stock them in my store. This runs about 50% of the cost of a US product, and I'm not sure it the US ones are made here or not....I actually doubt it. I'll keep you posted, it will be here tomorrow and I'm going to see how it works. You're getting into the fun part now on rigging...I love Bowsprits and how they look. As for sails, I agree and think they would be easier on the bench. The boats turned out to be a good surprise, and I really am pleased with how they worked out. Thanks for stopping by, and also for the business. Glad to hear you'll be spending more time on your Morgan.

Where did you get the larger draw plate John?

I'm back at work in the shipyard now. Going half time at the end of December so will have even more time then.
I have the deadeyes/chainplates on, and finished the bowsprit boom last night ready for painting.
Next will be rigging it before moving on to the masts.

Starting to think about furled sails now - it occurs to me that the mizzen fore/aft sail would be easier to attach to the jackstay on the mast prior to mounting the mast!
I'll probably take a diversion to play with my silkspan suppy and faux masts/yards to help decide if I'm going to go that route.

    I love your boats!

Welcome home, John.  She sure is filling out.  Can't think of anything on the scratch....except maybe that is now the 'wall side'.  My models generally have two of those.

Sorry to see you mishap.  I don't think its possible to un-dent the plates without replacing them, I'd probably try gradually working very small quantities of paint into the scratch and see where that leads, it may just hide it enough.  I'm a fan of the Admiralty copper paint.   Best of luck.

    Hi Sjors,

A bit of thinned timber glue makes your ropes stiffer and more easy to handle.
    It worked for me.
    Good luck.

Thank you for the welcome back
It's good to be back !

When I was looking at the pictures again I just feel a lot of shame about the ropes on the lids.
That's not what I want to see.
So I'll take all the rope away from the lids.
And now I have to do it again....
And here comes the first question .....how can I make the ropes a little stiffer ?
I have to fill up the wholes who are there at the moment so .....maybe glue ??????????
If someone knows the answer, please tell me

Good to hear from you again Sjors.  And better news to hear that you have a space to model in.  Looked pretty cramped in you old dwelling.  Look forward to seeing some new progress.

How are you going to survive???

Although, I see an advantage: Aggies maidentrip will be on the Rottemeren, just around the corner
