I attended the International Plastic Modelers Society (IPMS) National Convention in Hampton, Virginia, held August 6–9. My Club, the Hampton Roads Ship Model Society, had a display in the Clubs section where several of our members displayed their models.
The event was great, drawing people from all over the United States, many of them were ship modelers. There was a wooden ship model category sponsored by the Nautical Research Guild, so I entered my Medway Longboat. I was thrilled to take home a third place award.
Here is a photo from the IPMS featuring my model:

Nice job on your Niagara. Welcome to Model Ship World.

I just went through your build log and I am amazed at the quality of your work on this model, especially with it being your first build and with a limited amount of power tools. You have documented your build very well and it will be an aid for future builders on this kit. I am looking forward to your future progress as this is going to be a well built model. Thanks for sharing your build with us.

I was under the impression that all the pictures I've posted on HMS Bellerophon and HMS Ramillies were placed in albums.
You had one picture titled HMS Bellerophon.jpg that was not in an album. When I looked at your profile, I saw that you had an album titled HMS Bellerophon, so I moved that picture to your Bellerophon album. You had set up albums correctly for all of your other pictures, it was only this one picture that was not posted in an album.

As best as I can figure, while the kit instructions call for the straps to wrap around the tube and pin (as you have made them), the kit-supplied straps are intended to bear their tubes+pins on their outsides, as the transom gudgeons carry their bits of tube.
Trevor
Trevor is correct that the tubes and pins should be on the outside of the straps. See the 6:30 mak of this YouTube video:

On April 26th, I attended the 42nd Annual Northeast Joint Clubs Conference and Show in New London, CT where I displayed my model of the Medway Longboat. There were over 50 models on display and and my model received the Jim Roberts Award in the judged competition. I am deeply honored to have received this award.
Here is a photo on the new Ships in Scale website with me on the right receiving the award from Tom Ruggiero of the Ship Model Society of New Jersey. Mike Ellison of Seawatch Books is on the left, holding the mic.
Here is a link to the full article on the Conference: https://shipsinscale.com/2025/05/04/northeast-model-ship-enthusiasts-gather-for-joint-clubs-conference/

Hey Cisco, I saw your AVS at the show. Pictures just do not do your model justice. It is an absolute beauty of a model and I look forward to seeing it completed. Glad you won one of Chuck's kits. I bought many raffle tickets for it, but no luck on winning one. It was a great show and I look forward to next year's event.

Welcome to Model Ship World. You have done a great job on the Lobster Smack and your full size boats are also works of art. You will do just fine in this hobby. The Longboat is a lot more difficult to build than what it looks like, but the model will turn out very nice. I look forward to following your progress.
