  1. My Admiral is a retired Registered Nurse and calls feeling that survivor's guilt. Since you're already out and about helping your neighbors, that's good therapy.
  2. Glad to read you are safe, Alan. There are a few of us here wandering about is varying states of shock, thanks to the two hurricanes. Good luck rebuilding your area.
  3. NJ State Police and NYPD sent rescue teams to the Asheville area, too. They have heavy rescue skills for extracting folks from under wreckage.
  4. Mine is, too. I lose HO scale clevises with some regularity. My find rate is about 30%. I use a good flashlight/torch and the little blighters seem to find obscure little crevices to hide in or bounce into an open kit box lid. 😁
  5. I'll be following along, too. Don't know how much tech I can provide, but I will be aiding in the peanut gallery, urging you along.😄
  6. RFID chips? Maybe get your dog to sniff it out, properly muzzled so as to not eat the tinier pieces? Dog noses are 7K times more powerful than any of us possess.
  7. These storms had tornadoes along the east coast of Florida. His power grid must be garbage right now. We, up in NC got help from as far away as Calgary, Alberta up in Canada. So trying to get crews down there may take some time. Thoughts and prayers for folks in those areas.
  8. Yes, a not very well done limited production. I think Popeye had issues with some of the Roden kits he's built.
  9. OOF! I liked my Boeing jets, everything worked. Granted they were built in 1953 or so. And had great maintenance.
  10. Looking good Yves. Can't wait to see your vestibules and steps.
  11. Gives readers a good idea of the efforts needed to turn out a quality (plastic) ship model. Leave it in.
  12. Keep up the good work, Yves. Reminds me of the old Westwood Models passenger car kits for the old wooden passenger cars of primarily the late 1800s. They didn't do interiors and the windows and doors were plastic. You built them on the plan sheet covered in wax paper and pinned up while the glue dried. Just like the old balsa planes. 😄
  13. It's all looking good, Keith. 👍 Will you apply the pastels to the walls, doors and windows? They have a slight sheen right now. The wood/coal burned would leave a fine coating of soot on everything. Then, you get the rain runoff around the windows and doors, leaving wispy trails of soot behind.
  14. The algae/moss is a great idea, especially for these work scows. They aren't being run around the harbor moving cars, but sitting in a cove helping rebuild a pier. Roof looks better with your weathering, too.
  15. I'll follow along, too. RN battlecruisers are faves of mine.😄
  16. I got on line and filed with FEMA and was paid the $750. And it's not a loam, as some rumors had it. Had a buddy file for the $600 for a generator. His blew a cylinder out the side of the motor. It was 20+ years old. That was denied. But yeah, I haven't seen much FEMA presence. Mostly our churches and home grown shelters and food banks. The Army Guard has been lifting in supplies to areas cut off by the destroyed bridges. We're pretty much on our own. 😒
  17. Glad to see you and yours survived the night, Craig. It'll be a slow recovery. We still have folks without power, roads getting cleared or patched. The local supermarket is bare; their warehouse was underwater in Swanannoa, a very hard hit area.
  18. Dang! The storm is over Cape Canaveral at 5 AM. That's a fast mover. But it's also dumping massive rainfall. Hopes and prayers out for all in it's path.
  19. Unfortunately, it did. We asked about removing the ductwork, but the effort for removal was out weighed by the time left in the lifetime of the airframes. Very frustrating for we aircrew.
  20. Nice aero discussion. You can add the F-4 Phantom, with it's Boundary Layer Control system on both leading and trailing edge flaps. The landing speeds were reduced with this system, especially critical for landing aboard ship. Land based F-4s had the system, too. When the F-4E model was converted to Leading Edge Slats, the internal hardware was merely capped off and left in place. Our landing speeds were bumped up about 10 knots. Not sure about the USN J model conversion. The slats added about 1,500 pounds to our empty weight.
  21. Not too familiar with these MaK designs. I'll follow tour build, Rob.
