  1. Wow, nicely done Falcon. 👍 I gave a Lego version to my nephew, once upon a time, for Christmas. We spent the morning putting it together, ignoring all the rest of the goodies he received. And this was 20 years after the original movie.
  2. Looks like an interesting build, especially as it's short run characteristics. I think your superior skill and cunning will let you turn out an excellent model. 😉
  3. True, Jack, but both (D&S, C&TS) of these now tourist lines were part of a narrow gauge division of the Rio Grande, until the 60s. I have a few videos of these rotaries in action as tourist action. Impressive tossing of snow.
  4. Another section of the rabbit hole: D&RGW had 2 rotaries in snow trains of 7 cars. They were based in Chama and Alamosa. Lots of snow in the San Juan Mountains of Colorado.
  5. Jolle, your details are outstanding and your weathering is superb. I can see why Model Warships and ION gave you the medal. Well done.
  6. You can use an external DVD player, connected by a USB cable. But yes, a printed booklet is always welcome.
  7. Shame about the decals, but your plow and tender look good. The coal pile looks very good.
  8. I'm in, too. My F-4 squadron in Germany had a visit with the Italian AF squadron of the same number, the 22nd. Great deployment, excellent home cooked pasta and an Italian white wine. Tragedy struck the next day when their squadron commander decided to do a departure flyby under the low hanging clouds and took all 4 jets into an Eifel hillside. We were all destroyed by this disaster. A very bad day. R.I.P.
  9. Sounds like it was more that a basic cataract remove and replace. Good luck with your recovery. Now take two tots of rum and call us in the morning. 👍
  10. yep, boxtop/instruction sheet colors should be taken with a grain of salt. Good references are the stop for that. I accumulated a decent library of RAF and Luftwaffe a/c, but now many are out of date, thanks to a lot of good research. Your paint job looks good.
  11. brushing the varnish leaves an uneven coat, compared to more complete airbrush spray. Painting a second coat should fix it right up. Good luck with the water testing, OC.
  12. That side looks very good, Yves. This was state of the art for the 60-70s. Lasers were just entering the workplace back then. Hospitals and the military were early users. We needed smaller, faster computers to effectively control laser cutters. If you can draw up something in STL format, a laser cutter can use it to cut your patterns.
  13. There are vendors selling Floquil paint. Google is your assistant for them. Although I suspect the Marine colors are even more scarce than the railroad colors. You could also look at Tru Color Paint, an acetone based paint. It has some marine colors at: https://trucolorpaint.com/military-ships/ They're mostly for airbrush, but they do make brushable formulations.
  14. All too true, OC. At one time I had 39 first cousins; now I have 18 and a few of them I'm not too sure about. Travel for many of them is a thing of the past. C'est la vie.
  15. Progressing nicely, Yves. 👍 Back in the day, the Rio Grande plow trains could get up to 7 cars with 2 extra water cars, a cook's car and a couple of bunk cars for the crews.
