  1. Another site for O Scale detailing parts, although the site is down right now. https://www.precisionscaleco.com/ And here's another site for detail parts: http://wisemanmodelservices.com/ Have fun.
  2. Quite the jump in quality, Greg.
  3. Nicely done! The roof and extension look great. Not a good assignment to be shoveling coal into the firebox while the train is chugging along plowing thru a snowdrift. No wonder these roads had multiple bunk cars for both the engine men and the section(track) men.
  4. The aerial cannons on many of our earlier jets, up thru at least the F-16s, are 6 barrel M61A1 20mm Gatling guns, capable of up to 6,000 RPM. The size of a jet's magazine, like the silver drum in the second opening, defined how many seconds of gunfire per jet. The F-4E had 640 rounds in it's magazine, so it had 10 seconds of cannon. This Tomcat looks like around the same size. We were limited to a 2 second burst or the barrels overheated and twisted into a pretzel. One of my squadrons in SEA had a warped barrel set in our lounge.
  5. Opening the louvers and intake on the front really enhance the looks of this Cobra. 👍
  6. Check for a local RC aircraft shop. Absent that, try mail order. Tower Hobbies, in Chicagoland, is one shop I know.
  7. Might that have been Preco? I remember ads, but none of the details.
  8. Nicely done. I really like the finish on your porthole liner. 👍
  9. Another well done build. And a stroll down memory lane. Thank you for showing them, Craig. 👍😁
  10. Sad to see but pretty common, unfortunately. They do a great job in acquisition, but less work on maintaining and preserving the gear. It's a never-ending battle.
  11. A quick check on your seal is to put your mask on, cinch down any and all straps and inhale. If the mask collapses, it's sealed. And monitor your breathing while working. If you see moisture inside the mask, you may have a bad seal, especially around your nose. We exhale CO2 and water vapor. I do like Pat's mask that puts a positive pressure inside the mask. The chem gear we used when flying did that. We carried small fan units to over pressurize our systems. Most of it was a firefighter's SCBA gear, routed thru a chemical filter.
  12. Revell did that a lot, back in the day. Their aircraft were pretty much all box scale. And look at the USS Arizona kit - 1:426 scale. Whazzat?
  13. Your shell is looking pretty good, Craig. And thanks for the tip about the Mr. Dissolved Putty.
  14. Why did they use a model railroad scale of 1:87? Run a train line onto the pier where the ship is moored?😕
  15. Neat little hot rod, Craig. Well done. 👍
  16. You're on the right track for the horses, OC. The ones across the road are pretty shiny, when they're clean and dry. The cavalrymen had to keep their horses clean and fit, or they'd become infantrymen. 😉 That slight sheen sounds about right. 👍
  17. That tiny miter box for this razor saw is pretty small. Recommend you screw it down to a larger piece of wood with a pair of flat head screws. Then you can clamp the whole assembly down to your workbench. I think these saws came from the Czech Republic. The aircraft and armor folks have used them for years. I hold/clamp a steel straightedge to a car body and cut against that. Very narrow kerf.
  18. Rob, I echo your use of these tools. The fine bending tweezers is new to me. I'm putting together an Internet order and those Tamiya tweezers will be at the top of the list.
  19. Yep, Gator's Grip is good stuff. 👍
  20. I remember my Mom sitting down to dinner with the chicken feet in her soup bowl and my Dad asking her if she was going to eat them. He was a city boy and fresh chicken was a novelty for him. I chalked it up to trying them once and realizing the feet were best left in the soup pot. 😉
