  1. What did you say? I can confirm hearing loss and that buzzing in one's ears, called tinnitus, due to 28 years of jet noise. Hearing aids are a daily thing now. Luckily they are rechargeable, versus putting those tiny batteries. All courtesy of my Uncle Sam.
  2. My F-100 crewchief buddy confirms that the tail section was all Titanium.
  3. Good luck with your maiden flight. The twist in the airframe is there to counter the torque of the motor and prop.
  4. Looking forward to the start of this build, Craig. This was a big, rugged bird.
  5. Nicely done with the orange. It's eight up there with red and yellow for getting good coverage, due to the translucency of those colors,
  6. Head movements like that could induce vertigo and or tumble those tiny gyros in our ears. The Sky Blazers was based at Bitburg and were the USAFE (Air Forces Europe) version of the TBirds.
  7. I don't know, but I do know a fellow who crewed D models in Viet Nam. I'll ask him Thursday when I see him at work. My semi-uneducated guess is it's the heat effects on those sections, since that's where the afterburner/reheat sits. The F-4 had that area sheathed with titanium. Don't know if the Hun used any Ti in the aircraft skin.
  8. You've definitely turned that sow's ear into a silk purse, Craig. The finish is outstanding. 👍
  9. Looking very good, Craig. The tonal variations of the panels worked out very well. And the decals really are stand out. 👍
  10. Nice work, mcb. The brown you're using looks spot on for the Lackawanna marine boats.
  11. Like the color of your web seats much better than the US birds. 👍 Usually ours were faded red.
  12. Salute smartly, say Yes, Ma'am and proceed to tap USS Visacard. 😁
  13. Nice bargain, Jack. I'll be following. 😄
  14. Your gloss red paint turned out well. And no, you don't need a clear gloss over it to decal.
  15. Well done, Jack. Your figure painting is getting so realistic. 👍
  16. Glad to see you're getting your modeling mojo back, OC. Sorry to read of your pet's unexpected death. Take some time to mourn. Even though it's a pet, it's still a part of the family.
  17. Neat looking kit. Have fun with the RC. 😁
  18. Wefalck is correct about not modeling the sleepers/ties, since they are unseen. if railcars are rolled out onto a pier, I'd expect a series of pilings under the dock where the rails run. Pictures of the railroad docks in the New York harbor area clearly shows this, especially in more recent years with the wholesale abandonment of the rail marine facilities.. There is a comprehensive website where you can climb into the proverbial rabbit hole. http://members.trainweb.com/bedt/IndustrialLocos.html
  19. Ah, the magnificent "HMS Hood". John, an excellent source of information is here at: http://www.hmshood.org.uk/ It has extensive modeling info.
  20. I think I get what you're saying. You need to leave a flange-way for the wheel flanges. You may have to fiddle with the thickness of the boards to permit cars to roll out onto your dock. You really only need to fill that in if you're planning to drive vehicles onto your dock. I'd put some kind of wheel stop on the end of each rail, too.
