Martin B-26B Marauder by CDW - FINISHED - Airfix - 1:72 Scale

One a day in Tampa Bay, as the old saw went. McDill was the training base for the B-26 in WWII. The original wing was on the small side, meaning it had higher landing speeds. And the unlovely nickname of the Flying Prostitute, since it had no visible means of support. I built a model of Flak Bait, in 1/72 scale, eons back. The original is in the Smithsonian, I believe. How are these newer ICM kits? I picked up some Soviet era jets and they were a bear to build. Lack of locating pins, short shot parts. -
Well done with Arizona. 👍 Looking forward to your next project, whatever it turns out to be. 😄

Craig, your configuration is more of a anti-ship bomber. The AR missile is most likely launched to take out ship borne radars to allow the Bucc backseater some time to refine and shoot the the TV missiles. Preemptive shots like that are a good technique in a hostile environment. Did one over Hanoi, way back when. I know messing with a Maverick missile takes heavy concentration by the backseater, picking out a target in a semi benign environment, like a Red Flag exercise. It's not a real High Def TV picture; looked more like an old black and white tiny TV screen. That limits whose eyes are outside to just the pilot.

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
