Would an epoxy cement work? J-B Weld or similar? -

I just saw that technique for making eyebolts at a recent RR prototype modelers meet. The commercial one are either the wrong size you need, plastic when you need metal or simply not available. Fellow used a thin needle nose pliers with similar sized wire. The plastic sleeve acting as a crimping band is a good trick. 👍 -

Sitting on the fuel tank? What a stench. And add the castor oil they used. A wonder the fumes didn't do them in. The pilot of this crate had 25 1/2 kills. Impressive. -

Those WW I a/c really weren't much more than box kites. Spruce frames and canvas? I purchased the laser frames and the seat. The latticework seat looked beyond me (one of my parents wicker chairs we had out on the patio), so I opted for the seat. The MGs looked good, but I figured I needed to roll my own, since they don't need bending into a horseshoe, like the seat edge padding. 😁 -

Thanks for that product endorsement, James. I'll pick one up next time I get more CA. -

I think people shy away from Gorilla, expecting the expanding foam variety. They make a very nice PVA glue which I've used from time to time. Haven't tried their CA glue. Been looking at the rubber particle filled CAs for their added strength. -

Number 4 in, on the right. Looking at another fine job by a master. No problem with that, right? 😁 -
The gun bluing does exactly that, turns the metal blue. Usually it's used on steel. Birchwood Casey and Jax both make products to turn your brass black. It could take several applications of the solution to achieve the level of black you want. The vinegar is a good surface prep/cleaner for brass. For copper, you need something to accelerate the patina or turning the copper to a green shade. Not sure about what products do that.

You're the superintendent of this project, with the hammer for going or stopping. I get what you're saying. Move on to something that revs your engine instead of losing time delving into the esoterica of this particular card model. We'll follow you. -

I'll be hanging around for this one also, Andrew. Really like the RN paint scheme. 👍 -

Ouch. Similar situation over Laos one night. We turned around and went home. Luckily, radio still worked. Airplane sat in the repair shops for a long while. We needed a few extra beers that night.😲 -

Only McDonnell would strap two J-79s to a Mack truck and make it supersonic.😁 -

Looks like some relative of a Star Wars AT-AT. Guess I missed out on these when they came out. Interesting contraption. -

Nice, a Clark AB, Philippines jet. Looks like a late model E with the antennas on the spine. Interesting laser cut parts. The spider looking item looks like the AB interior bracing. Will follow along, for sure, Craig. -

I found the link in Chris's PWS-10 log and it was in English. I've downloaded the BM-6a. Will be laminating parts soon.

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
