  1. Great job, Grant The weathering is outstanding and those doors are super. 👍 One trick/tip for the stacks is to glue a piece of wood under the hole, let it dry and then drill a hole the size of the part peg into thru the roof. Make sure it's not visible from outside.
  2. Looking forward to some more fine builds, Patrick.
  3. Looks like the Paasche gives you 3 different tips. Acrylics need the bigger nozzle than enamels and lacquers. The Micro-mark probably has a medium tip, and if you spray acrylics, you'll be cussing the tool. Can you get a larger tip from Micro-Mark?
  4. Looks like a camera under a light below the silencer equipped barrel. Note a screen above the trigger guard. This one sees around corners.
  5. I'd expect some nasty barrel wear with frequent replacement of said barrel. 😀
  6. Pretty sleek looking beast. All those prongs - sensor mounts? Designer had a heckuva imagination. Love it.
  7. Very well done, Patrick. I appreciate your adding details to these 1/72 scale kits, since I work in 1/87 scale primarily.
  8. OC, doors turned out great. They look the real deal. More Green Jackets, I say.
  9. Heck, I acquired my Flying callsign from Starwars, back in1977. Obiwan
  10. I moved on from those programs around high school, mid 1960s. Still like good sci-fi movies, but stuff like Space Battleship Yamato and the Gundams was way too kid-like. I'll still follow along for the pearls you pop out in this blog.
  11. Eric, it's a sad state of affairs when you get a kit with so many issues. I admire your stick-to-it-tive-ness.
  12. I remember the cattle ranch around Avon Park Gunnery Range. They roamed at will and once we got a cow running threw the tactics area. The Range Control Officer yelled himself hoarse trying to keep our guys from releasing any ordnance. Unfortunately, the cow took a hit and Uncle Sam bought a cow that was KBA -killed by air..We were pretty bummed by that.
  13. usually the gunner was protecting the coach and occupants. Rifles were unwieldy. How often did they get pursued across salt flats by the native tribes? It's just Hollywood's version of history. And J.W' first starring vehicles. I'm a fan of old JW.
  14. Alan, if you light it, use yelo-glo LEDs. They're warmer looking, sort of like the old kerosene lamps. More like fire light.
  15. Yeah, John Wayne on the roof with a Winchester rifle ala "Stagecoach" with Andy Devine driving 6 horses to Tombstone.
  16. Like EG says, a little soot on the chimney and you're done there. This build is progressing beautifully. Super!
  17. Like you're using the tissue paper roofing. I've used that once or twice on cars and structures. The paper used to wrap presents seems to work well for this. Flat black is a light sink for photos. I think a charcoal gray shade would work better. I've used Tamiya German Gray, NATO Black and tire black. They're slightly lighter shades of black
  18. Rob, I'll follow your build with interest. Like many I built the old Revell box-scale kit way back when. This almost looks like an up-scale of the old Revell kit. With your skills and a box full of aftermarket bits, I think it will turn out OK. Model on!
  19. You can use thin foam pieces, not the strofowm boards with the big white beads, but the sheets used for insulation in some places. Your local big box store may have pieces of broken boards. Rough shape one/two sids and but up against your base in layers, like a cake. Cover with plaster gauze or Sculptamold to cover the ends, Sand to final shape, the paint your ground cover shade. Apply your shrubs and trees. Et voils! Castle Loarre and hilltop site. 😄
