  4. Dave: I think you're on the right track with regard to the "mooring chock". I'm at the point of laying the 3rd & 4th deck planks on the quarter deck. I know to cut the planks approx. 12'', lay it along side the 1st planks & mark it where the 1st plank ends. At that point I cut a notch just deep enough for the 1st plank to nestle in. Where I'm confused is how far forward from that notch do I taper planks 3 & 4? Also do I taper the outside edge of planks 3 & 4? If so where do I taper them? regards J
  5. Dave: I checked the location of the kit provided cast metal chocks & the aft pair appear to be surface mounted on the aft most monkey rail. The forward pair are surface mounted on the forward buffalo rail. This still leaves unanswered what are the "mooring chocks" in the aft bulwarks for. I have the book "Bluenose II Saga of the Great Fishing Schooner" by L. B. Jenson. On page 101 it shows the aft mooring line being tied off on the quarter bitt that is midway between the "mooring chock" in the upper bulwark & steering box on plan sheet #3. Maybe this is the explanation for the "mooring chocks" on the plans. regards J Lombard
  6. Heinz: Your deck planking looks great. Can you answer a few question about it? 1. how do you "space" your planking? 2. Is the wood for your planking from the kit or did you purchase different wood strips? 3. What is the "black wood filler" you used to coat your deck? regards J Lombard
