Wonderful progress. The guns look great. -
Just about fully stocked now with all sizes up to 1/4". Singles, Doubles and Triples. Next week I will start stocking Deadeyes and fiddle blocks.

Thank you...That is a bit later than for Speedwell. My preference... I always use just singles based on my sources for all guns below 24 pdr.

Just singles. The guns were too small for needing doubles. Those were only used on bigger guns. The winnie only used singles on the guns as well. Im not sure where you got the idea that doubles were used. They are only used on the biggest guns. The winnie has 12 pounders which would only have used singles also.

These guns although only 3 pounders are the same size at this scale as those used on the Winnie. So its not any more or less difficult to rig them. But it does add to the model at this scale. And there are far fewer of them. Which is nice. Chuck

Thank you so much!!! I know this is a tough decision for folks...to abandon wood and take the plunge. But they look pretty good to me. I am glad you like them. And you cant beat that price!! I am using them on my Speedwell. I wouldnt sell them if I didnt feel comfortable using them on my own models. I test rigged one of the guns with them.

I took a break today from making blocks and rope to test rig one of my guns. I think it all worked out well enough. It had been many many years since I rigged any guns. I think Cheerful was the last time I did this. Anyway...I went with a 5" single block (5/32") for the tackles with .018 tan rigging. For the Breach line I went with .055 tan rope. I also used my acrylic rigging hooks for the tackle but I did make the ring bolts from 24 gauge black wire. I really wanted to establish the length for the breach line in this test so you guys would know how long to make them. The Breech line was 6" long end-to-end. I rigged it just like I did on Cheerful and Confederacy. These details will be spelled out in a step by step once I rig the other seven. This was just the first test run. My goal was to make the guns look like they have some very natural and properly hanging ropes. I am not sure if I pulled it off but I am happy with the results. The next 7 guns should get better...as I get used to rigging and rope-work again. And yes...rigging the guns is optional but this time I decided to take the plunge. Chuck

playing with clue blocks....still tweaking these. But you get the idea. I have to make the side holes bigger and the sides thicker where those holes are.

Singles are now starting to be added as "in stock" in my online store. Doubles will follow early next week. I think you guys will really, really like the price. So much cheaper than nearly $9 per package for cnc blocks. I hope this makes for an affordable option and they are really terrific looking blocks. I hope you guys give them a try. I am going for a slightly darker "English Boxwood" color on these as I know most dont like the very light blocks on a model. I hope you will be pleased.

Deadeye test in the "English Boxwood" color along with a test of fiddle blocks and shoulder blocks. Keep in mind these pics are just taken with my phone. They look pretty good in reality.

Wrong sheet you have there…thats chapter two. Those parts are all for the cant frames. They shouldnt even be out of the sheet yet. I fear you have mixed up all of your parts. literally that part 8 is on the sheet with the keel parts from chapter one. The long keel sections for beneath the keelson. Again 5/32” thick. If you built your keel then you have those parts. A little tip….dont even touch the parts bag for chapter two until you are done with chapter one. That is a recipe for disaster.

OK slight confession....the blocks you see me working on above are not boxwood. I am working on a speedier alternative. The tricky part is making them look like wood. This will also be a much much cheaper alternative. These blocks are all 3d printed. No painting required...they will come like this straight out of the bag. I have the boxwood or natural blocks all figured out and they look really good. I hope you agree. I just need to get the darker shade chosen. Color and finish is the tricky part of this. Clue blocks, sheet blocks, sister blocks, violin blocks, hearts deadeyes.....the possibilities are endless. Chuck Early tests....good prints but bad resin. It wouldnt dye the correct color and was too shiny.

Yes it was just a bad photo...sorry. Here is a better one. These are so tough to photograph for whatever reason. These are the finished blocks. Production will resume soon. But first to enjoy the fourth!!!
