and found some some very useful info in it , I am glad I purchased this book it is packed full of historical drawings and old photos of the. Logoda , and it’s whale boats. I also started receiving some drawings on the vessel so I will begin figuring them out so I can start making saw dust this weekend. She is going to be a nice size model at aprox 23” long 30” tall and 7 “ wide.CF4C3B2C-B18A-4C8F-A3E6-A7E4685C767C.thumb.jpeg.f07d265a182c48d9cfc507d1debafb76.jpeg209A7837-E249-4954-A913-EB5C7C28FBE6.thumb.jpeg.f2ecced094982b2f2d3978acd84ccc8a.jpeg

  2. Hello fellow MSW members

After finishing my Cross section build I wasn't sure what my next project would be . While looking at different boats i started thinking back to when I was young .I was born in New Bedford Massachusetts, and as a kid I can remember visiting the  Whaling Mueseum . https://www.whalingmuseum.org/ and they always had such great stuff on display and in the Bourne building was a massive display of the vessel "Lagoda" . As a kid I couldn't wait to get to the vessel to explore it .My grandmother lived maybe a mile away from the museum so we would go visit several times a year. I contacted a member from the museum and she was very helpful in sending me the information on the Lagoda, and how to purchase the plans for the vessel. So without hesitation i called and purchased them as they only had the one set left :o.

Now I will impatiently wait for them to arrive. Here is a link to the " Lagoda "if you would like to check her out . https://www.whalingmuseum.org/explore/exhibitions/current/lagoda

Thanks for checking in on my new adventure.

If you do it in tin that will be interesting I have never seen anyone do that , so I would be excited to learn this technique.

I got The other one done as well here they are side by side close enough I believe.

  4. Good afternoon fellow modelers

I was getting ready to rig my cannons this morning and once I got a good look at the cannons I made in the beginning of my log one did not match the other so I decided to fix the one the was a bit to large. It wasn’t to bad ,but to me was obvious. Well I ducked it all up and it turned out looking real bad .:default_wallbash:. Here is what it looked like before I butchered it.C79DEF0C-6DB0-4BF0-B806-8C4E74D7A141.thumb.jpeg.dc452752a33d6bd1dbafc25113d7376f.jpeg

Here is what it looked like after the butchering .4596FF55-6C73-4171-B733-D94A6176B22D.thumb.jpeg.02fa2351b19d9e0e0b438045caef5e19.jpeg

when I made these I used paper and super glue .

I had picked up some brass rod a few months ago and decided today was going to be the day I tried my hand at making a couple cannons out of it to replace my experiment gone wrong.

I started by cutting grooves in the rod with my file to mark the rings of the cannon .74CC7337-2121-47F0-B811-222AB7305AB2.thumb.jpeg.1eb9cf0679e6aecf6ea0e96734511e6c.jpeg

then i I started filling the shape of the end of the barrel.49CC26AC-88AF-4F55-A9FA-4C140112EC1B.thumb.jpeg.f65267e20d0b0cb024b9142599d776eb.jpeg

I do not own a lathe and quickly realizing this was going to be a time consuming project I decided to use my little drill press to speed up the process . I chucked up my piece of brass and using my files started shaping.

After a little time and patience this is what I came up with.

i am pleased with the way the cannon turned out . Now I will try to replicate it . I will post results of the replicated cannon later today .

    i hope  lol

    Thanks for looking in.
