So how exactly do you catch the flies to tie, Mr Miyagi style with chopsticks or do you lasso 'em and isn't that kinda cruel to the flies. I mean I hate flies myself but I usually just swat them and put them out of their misery. So do you keep them as pets after tieing them?

    Hi Popeye,
We have had every bit of 3 inches last night and today, and it is still raining.  We've been just fine, nice dry RV trailer and a good awning.  I was outside cooking bacon this morning watching the people in pop-ups, trying to figurre out how to fold one up in pouring rain.....cold, wet rain.....they were miserable and soaked.  It unfortunately was amusing to watch and not have to be doing it.  I really felt for them, but couldn't help but laugh (with them not at them)  at the unimaginable misery they were going through.  They will have stories to laugh at forever with their kids.   Just thankful that we didn't have to leave today.  Western Maine is flooding.

Hi Grant, why not turn it into a travel log???? When we can't be building, at least we can be traveling as our excuse....lol. Enjoy your trip, it sounds great. I love Hong Kong, sorry you didn't get to spend some time there.

Thanks Rich and Larry.  I hope these help eveeryone.  After viewing the models in the museum, I have come to the conclusion that the MSW builders are far superior in building skills  than the museum builders or donors.  The models on MSW could go with great pride to any Maritime Museum hands down.  Great job to everyone who participates...

Good morning Sjors, it is good to hear from you.  Yes, I shall continue to provide you a photographic tour of my travels.  We have driven 3,000 miles since we left home.  About 2,300 of those miles is how far we are away from home, with the balance being our touring miles in the areas we have visited.  From here we go south to Boston, then to Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, Pennsylvania, Anapolis Maryland, Virginia, and eventually down to Florida.  It took us a month to get here in Maine, and will take at least a month or more to reach Florida.  Break out the popcorn.....

A little progress to report (need to stay ahead of the buffalo herd  ).

The 16 bulkheads were removed from the laser cut sheets:

Note the cutouts on the starboard side of the two near the top center.  This will be an opening in the finished hull where the 'framing' will be exposed.  The laser cutting on these pieces was quite intense.  I lightly sanded them all around but have left some laser char as I find this helps me  later during the fairing process.  However, the slots on these bulkheads and also the bulkhead former were completely cleaned in order to obtain a secure glue bond.  The slots were also just a tad 'tight'.

Here, the bulkheads have been dry fit into the former:

The last photo shows that the alignment is pretty good for a dry fit:

Now we will square and level everything as we permanently glue in the bulkheads.  But the fish are calling so we'll be back in a day or so.  In the meanwhile ----

    STAY THE COURSE

Hi Dave, I should be in Boston next week, and hopefully see Henry. I haven't heard from him yet, so I hope he will be able to show us around the Conny. Any particular pictures you might need send me a list and I'll try to get them for you.

Hi Larry, the sails should look real nice. I'll see if I can find more pictures with sails. Internet has been real "iffy" most of the time lately, and it takes about 6-8 minutes to upload 3 pictures which is all I can send at a time provided it doesn't kick me off and I have to start over. Some of the models at the museum had sails, and I'm sure I have some pictures.

Dinner looks great - and the start on the Confed is very nice as well!

Newly landed here in Maine this week - odds about 1 in 50 million of finding something like this (and no, I did not find it...).  Live, but looks half-cooked!  Donated to the Lobster Research Institute.
