  1. Hi again, bit of a set back on the planking, I took off the planks at the bow as I had not put a drop plank below the wale and could not get the second belt of planking to run correctly. Hopefully now it will and I can make progress again. Also I need to sort out how the planking terminates at the stern because at the moment I don't think it is working out, so I may be removing a few planks and re-fitting them when I've figured out what to do. Thanks for your interest and likes👍 Cheers 😃
  2. Welcome to MSW 👍
  3. I'm sorry to hear about your cousin's passing, condolences to you and your family.
  4. Hello!! Welcome to MSW
  5. Got a couple of hours on Triton tonight and managed two planks on the bow, so I now have four runs fitted, only fourteen to go, then do the other side! This is my only proper single plank hull(I know the Xsection was single plank but they were all short, straight planks) and I'm finding it difficult to keep the planks tight fitting, hopefully a bit of sanding will fill the gaps. till next time Cheers 😃👍
  6. Hi, I like the bending former, the best solutions nearly always tend to be the simplest. Cheers 👍🙂
  7. Thanks Phil 👍🙂 watching you part scratch your Victory has spurred me on,knowing that nothing is impossible. Cheers
  8. Thanks Chad, Phil,LS, Craig for the encouragement and kind words. I can't give Chucks plank bending method enough praise for making planking the bow easier!!😆👏 I'm hoping to get back into the shipyard over the weekend. I greatly appreciate the likes from everyone 👍 Cheers.
  9. Hi Gabe, my advice for what it's worth would be to construct the deck frame on the model, because I did mine on the plan and had to make alterations to get it to fit into the hull. Only minor changes but still changes. Just my opinion!😉 Cheers
  10. Welcome to MSW, being a comparative newbie myself also wrong side of 50, I don't have the masses of knowledge of the hobby that some on here have but would say go for a larger scale. Whatever you do have fun and don't be afraid to ask questions you will get plenty of help and advice from the members. Cheers
  11. Thank you I've enjoyed it immensely, it's quite a step up from a kit but gives a great sense of achievement knowing you made the components but with the added bonus of the plans already provided for you . Cheers
  12. Hello everyone, another hour or two working on the Xsection has seen the last line coiled, the gangway and ladder fitted and glued and the skid beams fitted, not glued as I don't know wether to paint them or leave them natural, but apart from that I'm going to call this finished. Once I've decided on the skid beams I will put a final coat of matt varnish on where it needs it and that's it. Thanks to all of you who followed this project which was a big learning experience for me, I must say that I enjoyed it and it has given me a taste for an attempt at a fully framed build but not yet as I have the Triton full hull and I have the Winchelsea project to do first, but I hope to do one in the future. Cheers and thank you 👍😁😃
  13. I've been following this build quietly, and now seeing this rope ladder I've got to say amazing!! Your attention to detail is incredible, you have a very fine vessel. Thankyou for sharing 😊
  14. Thanks for the likes and comments I managed an hour today and got number 2 gun rigged and fitted, next time it's flake the out haul line down and fit the gangway and ladder. Cheers 👍😁
  15. Fantastic work Craig as always, I look forward to seeing your next project 😁
  16. A fantastic job on those beam arms at that scale, I'm going to hang around for the rest of this project if you don't mind!!??👏😃
  17. Hi, decided to do a bit more work on the full build, so I've started to plank below the wales. It's working out at 18 planks so will divide it into 3 belts. I'm using this as practice for Winchelsea so there may be planks on that may be redone if I'm not satisfied with them, please bear with me. Tried Chucks method of edge bending with the two bow planks, I think by the end of Triton I will be getting it right more often.
  18. Great work on the gun barrel Phil, power to you for the others. 😅
