  1. Now it looks like a ship hull again, nice work Mark It's good to see you back in the shipyard, although the trip over to the helicopter was good with some great stories and memories, thanks👍
  2. I use 2.75 readers for modelling work although for rigging knots I go up to 3.00
  3. Yep mid forties seems to be when yours eyes go, I realized I needed reading glasses when my arms were too short to hold the book far enough away for me to see the writing 🤓
  4. Welcome to MSW 👍😁
  5. I can't wait to see this diorama, it's going to be fantastic!!!👍😃

  7. Amazing!!!! You've done good, very realistic but in miniature 😁 The market hall is absolutely medieval Europe.
  8. welcome back and congratulations on the butt kicking 👍
  9. Hello again, as mentioned above, I was looking for a cheap scroll saw, well I got one on Ebay, only £50, so to try it out I busied myself cutting out the bulkheads for Winchelsea, but every time I looked in the workroom there was Triton waiting patiently for me to do more work on her. So back to planking and starting at the keel I fitted the garboard and began working away from the keel. Limiting my self to 3 strakes at a time is a must otherwise I would lose myself in modelling as time flies when working on these projects. Hopefully I'm getting better with Chuck's edge bending method and I'm also getting a little less messy with CA glue, although I'm still sticking my fingers to planks inadvertently Anyway thanks for dropping by and the likes til next time. Cheers 👍😉
  10. Thanks I'll give that a try.
  11. I'm glad you were able to save it and carry on with the build Craig 👍 It's looking good!!!
  12. Chris has a knack for producing kits I really really want😂😂👍 These coastal fishing vessels are very good looking boats!!
  13. Absolutely beautiful little fishing lugger!!
  14. After having a bit of a search through I came upon a post from @bruce d about the loss of Royal Navy small ship records/logs so maybe this is why I can't find barbicans service record. I shall continue with ex crew search though. Thanks
  15. So, bulkhead cutting is done, so are the keel formers, I did have to re-cut the mid and stern section as for some reason these printed fractionally smaller than the bow section, all sorted now. I checked them on the drawing for size. The formers have been glued but the bulkheads are just dry fitted to test, some need a bit of tweaking on the slots. Still got the filler pieces at the bow and the stern timbers to cut. I'm doing all these cuts before I do the stem and keel to get a bit more practice with the scroll saw. Thanks for looking in. Cheers 👍😀
  16. Sorry meant to say, her service record is what I'm really after. Cheers
  17. Yes, I got plenty on the Kangaroo, Karangi and Koala, there was quite a fair amount on Barleycorn, Baritone and Barcarole. I just struggled with Barbican as I only got the info already mentioned, plus where she was built and one picture. I'll have a look through his service record for ship mates as you suggested. Thankyou
  18. I agree that the boxwood would look amazing tapered and joggled but you got to get just right, whereas the laser etched deck is done. If it were me I'd go with the laser deck. Hope this helps!!
