Mark, You 'nailed' those bends in the stern planking. 'Lovely job my boy' ;-) You have some serious adzing, and shaving to do ... I'll sit back, relax, and enjoy the master at work ..!
-
Dan, Not just a great modeling result but a true work of art ... she does show your prowes, or should I say versatility in all sorts of materials ... Cheers
-
Siggi, After this build you will be master model door maker, and panel specialist. It may be a lot of work, but pose yourself the question: "Could you have lived with it knowing it should be done different ..." I say worth the extra mile, Siggi, it shows your prowes

Mark, Soon you are ready to write your own dissertation on the subject!!! Keep the information flowing ...
-
Grant, Just one thing to remember ... don't let the internal disk fill up to it's maximum ... you'll end up with a 'frozen' PC ... P.s. 2 TB ain't much for movie storage ...

Grant, What is more important: Movies or Model building ... So that will define the required space on your harddisk ... Maybe a bigger disk is in order ... or add one ... double the fun

Patrick, I posed the question in view of the difference in strength and flexibility between plain paper and e.g. tissue paper when used not glued ... Thanks!

Candles Mobbsie, or a lanthorn ... should keep it in style with the fireplace, right ... Patrick, Firsdt of all: Enjoy your holiday. You did take your miniature build with you ...? So you can still keep us entertained ... did you!? Why tissue paper and not i.g. plain paper, or for that matter rice paper ...

Decoyman, have a look here: http://www.hobbymillusa.com/wood-species-pear.php Johann, The only thing I can see which is unfinished on the exterior are those huge screws and pieces of wood which keeps it to the mold. I am just as curious as you how it will come off and what the interior will look like! I'll keep my fingers crossed it'll come off smoothly ... P.s. Did you waxed the mold ...?

Ah, but you would be transmitting constantly and the servo's would be using your batteries power. I would use a small motor to shorten and lengthen as required ... considering the size of your build, you do have some space below decks for that ... Cheers
-
Dan, Sharp and detailed jet again. Nice to know you do have limits working with the lathe ... although ... it's more something like metal fatigue ... Very nice job on the handle, must be ... 2 mm wide like?

Jon, As Mark wrote: Don't keep your backup attached ... well you found that out ... I didn't loose my files, though I had a mainboard crash (PC) ... always look forward to that ... Currently getting things back in order. You know you can buy another mainboard, add memory, processor (if required a graphics card) and add your old disk drives. It will start up, look for new hardware drivers, the ones it can't find ... you just feed the CD from the new board and you're ready to go ... It does take some time - even if it sounds that easy. Furthermore, I want to speed up that PC too, so I'll be trying to get my c: disk copied to a Solid State Disk ... curious as to whether that will work ... In the mean time, I'll tinker on an old laptop, which needs constant feeding (sounds like a babe!!)

Patrick, If I were Mark I would use it for meself and no one else ... lest I wouldn't have time to work on me own projects!!! Besides, all the hassle you've got to count those stacks of money The midnight oiling to get deliveries out and meet demand ... nope, not worth it after retirement
-
Mark, You're Scottish ... ah no, you're Dutch ... Nope, definitely not ... You just use your common sense mate!!! Cheers

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
