  1. Thanks Rich. astounding. you know that perfect figurehead is my ultimate goal by at the same time its beyond my capacity so im patiently waiting to find a way ho to get it materialised. im redoing fcastle at least but weather is still not enough gloomy to get me start working properly. and time is so scarce. but its coming. V.
  2. Todays rain pushed me to unwrap glory, and what a lovely memories of making her. I was surprised by amount of minute works i was able to do last winter preparing rigging. Almost backed Up if able to continue again. But after i took a knife .. I Jumper into remaking fcastle, and I did quite a preparation structural work... Flooring and catheads holes still missing but hell...only now i am completely satisfied with her appearance AS whole and satisfied with her hull finally ! AS IT changed her look quite drastically and prssively so. I was complaining and pointing out the fcastle IS ridiculously low if followed her main line, event before beautiful photo of fcastle appeared. Higher ceiling of it gave All bow Area substantial bigger lovely appearance and visibility, ...and place below fór work.... I cant wait to put floor and lovely cornering pieces with rounded point in her. Here are few photos ..lokks like im in track to continue Thanks you fór comments... V. Castle Before - unreally low for men to wall in...
  3. Many thanks Rich. Wow Finally . Fcastle. What a treasure. Now how much of it is originally Built and what IS late installment i see ladder or stairs put facing wales. Interesting. Im about to rebuild mine fcastle. V.
  4. Everyone, I také reaponsibility fór such stupid mistake placing forecastle ceiling just along mainrail AS its natural continuation. Even Crothers book shows typical McKays design that IT was on the very top. Only splash rail sheltered and raised above... We were fare overhyped by outboard design and eagerly rushing to build and see the thing itself that noone pointed IT out At that tíme. IT was clearly abundant that person would have problém to fit under such narrow ceiling which IS inaceptable. Good tíme to reconstruct mine. Deadline africké passed but there IS hope picture of fcastle height IS not Core of it. Rob, ať this pointa I believe yours IS now trupy only fair replica... I Will reconstruct mine when having tíme. I strach McKays drawing of his clipper from Crothers book clearly demonštratívne that fcastle ceiling goes Higher above main rail line. ...interesting. sily of me. V. Sailor IS standing on deck. Mainrail double line IS partially showed - just one "floor" below him...easy ...
  5. There is window for that , sure not this summer. autumn maybe winter more likely. I will try to raise fcastle though. Im in no rush at this pint as I only need pelnty of ropes and chains as everything else is ready. so maybe oing snowy winter nights will do I thought it was never built that way originally - that fcastle floor would stand higher than sheerline . misfortune that with so many nice photographs we have there is not one showing fcastle and one pointing forward standing aft shows very dim idea of fcastle. happy continuation Rob. watching from time to time.
  6. I have not Been here for some time, wow very interesting reads and visuals. Rising fcastle was definitely thing that Haunted and disturbed me for longer myself...sure great Job Rob.
  7. This is exquisite Chuck. And complex. it looks like headwork Will be standalone chapter. If so that would be awesome. I knew by the tíme headwork is finished i will de-assemble myself made poor tryout and will order proper one to be installed. V.
  8. Wrap ..:) Finally some decorations arrived ...wheel IS star of the show. Tough but so beautiful. Only stern lamp missing. Will order Late. Im sure i Will regret watching proper bow treatment. But I Still love IT Almost 2 years of work. if i knolew before what IT takes.... i wouldnt have .... but im Happy i did. Thank you All, thank you Chuck for helping out. I learnt a lot. Im becoming humble i Guess. Hat off All of you folks making her. Wishing All best. its really really tough craft. so whats next i guess 2 years of break.myself:) i cannot believe i finished her. I almost refused. I Guess I matched color of printed decoration with Wood quite Well. Tried many times. enjoying watching All Your beautifull winnies. by the way , my last touch on winnie knife work - i slipped knife and cut open thru my 3 fingers requiring 4 stitches. thankfully nothing bad. so Folks , always be careful. we do need those fingers dont we. silly of me. Vlad
  9. Wow Rob its beauty. Middle one is treat to watch up to sky. I Guess i should be Lucky this time. No deep cuts thankfully so - fingers working...only 4 stitches... Be careful folks...not stupid as I..
  10. George , lovely milestone. one suggestion though. probably too late but it would be a bit nicer if deadeyes iron braces were a bit thinner. otherwise she is beauty
  11. Im here im here Rich. I will try to dig that picture working on it. Michaels depiction of ship is fascinating indeed with predictable result as we arleady predicted that it would be from that photo. i saw it immediately once seen that photograph that that one is source... especialy for bow it was obvious. with many distortions of quite massive proportion on both sides of extremities. bow and stern ....had vessel been photographed with modern technique it would be another story . - and im still not so sure. i cant imagine a dockyard where you can zoom out by legs with 50 + lens back 100 meters to get all shio in frame - maybe only with expensive wide angle corrected shift lenses for architecture puprose that buildings are photographed. still not sure of outcome
  12. thanks Rob for clarifying. indeed as you stated. besides there was not much more to work on anyway - for simple reason , height of standard door opening design in buildings V.
  13. Treat to watch Rob, amazing progress indeed. when i see those lanyards, my gosh what did i walk into. Im certainly off the work this summer , but for a change I will surely be furling all that silkspans or whatever in my scale. that will be again another kind fo breed . enjoying your build meanwhile. shes beauty with flag on.
  14. Well. I Worked All spring long. Cj 9 10 and Beyond . And my love -hate relationship with winnie continues. Being naturally impatient, i relaised with scale AS this and even without rig which takes event longer, ship modeling craft IS sort or art like painting. No matter time. Years even. What count IS final outcome or quality. Change in visual feeling from bare Hull to full form with All deadeyes fancy rail etc IS HUGE. Its worth platience. I was ooh and aah when making stern houses and inner compartments .. etc and after that too many months long structural timvers floors....All important but visually boring stuff almost offputting. I must say its steep learning Curve probably top much fór me unskilled bloke. but ship IS enormous. There was way too long watching at bare Hull. Sort of offputting feeling. Therefore i decided not to wait till autumn and trying to finish her AS soon AS possible with knife and files and sandpapers. After purchased part 9 i commited myself to 10 and Beyond - thinking IT Will be almost impossible. I tried to extract clay for Few stanchions and thats IT. I miss though Beautiful center rail columns AS i Made myself simple rounded. Well. And Guess what? I observed how those bows are Made in other ships and started IT off thinking i Will not be ale to cut those by Hand. Sure they are not complex beauties tusks Its temporatily attached somaybe i Will change them for originals when available. I Did malé inner fangway already and IT was tough ! You folks have Still a lot of works ahead.i Finally learned how to make proper Cannon. i Made swivel guns without that handle AS those are brass...Another aaargh. And i tried to make handmade upper capstan - only one though. binnacle was enormous fun to make with Dremel. And many other things. Like outrt steps although they are from poorer Wood unfortunately. if someone is making cherry winnie , add Chuck opted fór darker deadeyes I went fór white that complement beautifully with darker Wood. Oh - sure i miss 3 layered Channels but i tried to copy originál obed with black layer on the top. AS only knife cut, they are not such precise though. I intend to change those wired holding deadeyes AS i had biggest problém make IT beautiful and Neat thinner and straight .and they are top tehij i Guess. I Will have to buy those Made chains i Guess. Well, ať this point i miss only statues and figurehead and wheel and lamp and gratings to end.and Few more to finish bow - you are correct im not going to try to make those. :)Thanks fór watching and comments. my deadeyes are 5 &7 MM though. Little more covering freezies. And my pedestal Will be myself Made very old OAK lightly planned so old rustic vibe IS Still visible with simple brass nameplate ...now i Can wait Few months for you guys 😀.
  15. Rob you are machine ! its constant joy to watch your rig progress . she portrays another dimension with her rope net . how long spanker boom. wow.
