  1. So sorry to hear that. I am praying that things would get better and that you and your family will be blessed in the New Year!
  2. Absolutely stunning! I have many times referred back to this build log while working on my Harvey kit. I've made some progress during COVID, but alas, I have not worked on mine for about a year. I really need some time to finish her up. So close. But I fear it will not come close to rivaling your skill and craftsmanship on display with this beautiful ship. Very well done sir! Thank you for posting the final pictures.
  3. Thank you. After I complete my current build I will start on this project. I. Looking forward to it!
  4. Quick question, I have a kit that my father started before he passed away suddenly. It is in need of repair / restoration and I would like to continue it to completion. Where should this build log go? It is a kit, but there is also a good bit of restoration to be done before I can continue the kit? I just want to make sure I put it in the right place and name it correctly. Thank you.
  5. I tried to get some better lighting and a background to show off some of the rigging I have completed on this ship so far. It's a small start. I still need to make the other mast, hopefully this weekend I will have some time to get the main mast comets and set.
  6. It's been a little while since I made a post. I have been steady working on the fore mast. Just got it set and glued in position a few hours ago. It's hard to get a good picture at my work bench because the lighting is not great for photos. Hopefully you can see the mast in it's position. Lots of photos of scratch built stuff for the mast. Truth be told the kit supplied mast cap and cheeks are M.I.A. probably lost them years ago. It took a practice run with the mast cap to get it right. The first one split apart as I was finishing it up. I went out and bought a 6x6 mm length of wood from Michaels and made the mast cap out of that. It held together that time. All in all looking pretty good. I will probably start on the dead eyes and stays while working on building the main mast. Enjoy the pics.
  7. Off to a great start there. I have an occre kit on the shelf "The Golden Hind". The kit looks nice and all but the directions leave some things to be desired. This looks like a real fun build though. Cheers!
  8. Thank you for all the kind comments! I got a little more done on the of the ship. The anchors proved to be pretty fiddly little things. But in the end, I they came out okay. Then I started coming up with measurements and drawings for the mast top of the for mast. Soon there will be masts! Yup, have to create this from scratch. Lol
  9. This is looking fantastic! Cannons were frustrating for me on my current build. I would say yours are looking superior in every aspect to mine. Going forward, I will try to have "other tasks" to jump around on while doing cannons as it gets pretty boring after the third one or so. Keep going, it really is looking fantastic!
  10. Yes, they did update the kit quite a bit. The deck furniture was prefab by AL, and it was all unusable. It was fun remaking it all though, and at the least, the prefab stuff was a nice guide for re-creating it. I think I purchased the kit around 2000, I'm not entirely sure what year they changed it.
  11. This really looks amazing! Thank you for making a build log. I am learning all kinds of tricks and tips from reading it!
  12. Got a lot done on the bowsprit. I took a moment to set it on the kitchen table to get some better pictures. I had to step back for a moment. Pictures do not seem to do it justice. I'm not trying to toot my own horn, but, this thing is looking so good. I have never built any thing of this scale or detail and I have to say, I am really excited with how it is turning out so far. Fingers crossed, the rest of it comes together as nice. I included some action shots this time.
  13. Thank you for the kind words LeoM. I am having tons of fun on this model. I actually really enjoy bashing all the deck stuff. I am moving into the rigging now which I have been excited for for a long time. I started this model over 20 years ago. Lol. Most of the progress has been in the past 2 years though. I feel like I am coming down the home stretch on this one. It is a great model even with all the flaws in the kit, and some of my own as well lol.
  14. That was quite the break. Glad to be back at it. Finally got all those cannons finished and secured. I made all the pin rails from scratch ( the supplied ones were junk) and tied up the tiller. And with that the deck furniture and fixtures are just about complete. Moving into the next stage, the rigging. I will be building the bow sprit in the next couple days.
  15. Hello Sir, really looking forward to seeing this build continue! It has been an inspiration to my build. I took the summer off but hoping to get back to it soon. You are such an incredible model builder! Thank you.
  16. Finally got around to getting the deck hardware mounted. As I continue rigging up the cannons. I plan on coming back around and adding some rope coils next to them. Thanks for all the likes!
  17. Wow, these cannons are taking forever to make! Next model, if I have to scratch build cannons, I will definitely order some pre fab ones. A lot of work. Almost done with these little fiddly things though. I can't wait to start on the rigging! Getting real close now!
  18. Excellent completed build sir! She's a beauty! I am actually thinking of picking up this kit as my next build. If you could be so kind, could you offer a review of the kit from Occre? I have worked on a few AL kits and they seem pretty comparable if not a little better.
  19. Well there it is. One lonesome little cannon. I think it came out pretty good. Not the best, but hey, it works. 1 down, 7 more to go...
  20. Yes, Dessert Wolf put on a clinic with his SF2 build! Excellent work. I am actually kind of considering another build for my next. It's either going to be this, or the Golden Hind Kit from Occre. Both slick looking Galleons. I am really liking the Golden Hind for it's historical significance though. Either way it will probably be next year when I start my next build. The Harvey is taking a while.
