I used this glue for my coppering, no fumes and it sticks very good. And it washs off with water. When it was coppered. I sprayed two coats of flat clear 2x, by Rustolim. Have a look at @Glen McGuire log for his Mamoli's CSS Alabama, his has been finished for 4years, my copper on the Pegasus is only 16 months old. At least you don't have to ware a mask well coppering its super Phatic glue. Bob M.

Today is one of those days we're you just it just feels great to just take a pause and look at a build, I have been looking at my Duchess for awhile listening to tunes , and in no rush to clean up the shipyard lol. But will start some time later lol. No rush, not a care in the world because the rigging is finished. . The crew and I pulled a couple of long days, plus I threw my back out a couple of days ago 🙃. But who cares she is rigged and looking so amazing. We had or hands full that's for sure, the swear jar got used quite often I am ashamed to say. Pile made sure everything was good to go.then finally on to the Mizzen mast, once again Pile points out missing eye hooks for the lines. Down to the Mizzen mast this morning, again Pile points out missing blocks and lines for the yards 😳 😅. We finally got it all finished ,the rigging not finished of the build. Many many thanks to my friend @Gabek who supplied the ship's boat, I still have to paint it and put it together, in a day or two lol. Today with the rigging finished I have put the Duchess in the case for safe keeping. Only going to bring her back out when the anchors and stand are finished. @Keith Black the Mizzen mast on and I am mist definitely going to be building a nose guard for the next build . Thanks for the plans. It won't be long before I finish and there is just so many people I need to thank. @chris watton your ships are amazing I can't express my appreciation for allowing me this fabulous opportunity and adventure. I was so impressed with it. So happy. The First Mate Love it too and a moment of weakness she has agreed that, I get to buy one more model. No Surprise here one which one it will be. Lol. If I could I would buy a few more as well . I do regret not following @Kevin advice two years ago when I went on a buying spree and bought 6 models now I can't buy the ones I want lol until I finish the ones I have . I also am telling @Glenn-UK Thank you again I could not done this with out your help. So people please look at his for the right way lol as much as I tried there are mistakes 😅 many mistakes but she is beautiful and I just love her. Thanks Glen. @Glen McGuire thank you too. I got thinking about you lately I think it is because I am using the rigging tool that I have from the Hannah-SIB that we made. As soon as I put that tool in my hand all the advice about rigging little lines popped into my head. Thanks my friend. By the way Glen check out how many ratlines there are on an Astrolabe. Lol I am in sane that's my next build lol. Just beautiful, I am over the moon with joy about this ship , the memories are precious and priceless to me. ❤️ Going to crank up the tunes and sit back and enjoy the Duchess. Until the First Mate gets home anyway lol. After all tomorrow is another day, on cruise control for the rest of the day ,then back at it lol. Bob M. PFCGP. Goober . Apologies for my excitement.

Nice work my friend, love the ropes, lol. I was thinking about your gun deck, I have close to 75 spare cannons , of different sizes ,from Rodney's stach. Then I remembered that you are a master of the resin thread, you will just print your own, lol. But your more than welcome to take a look, anything I can do to help, Bob M. Giv'er

Taking a big breath and then a long exhale. I have officially finished the bowsprit and foremast rigging. With only one line tied to the wrong place. #3 is tied to #5 . I knew when I glued it I said how come this has two lines lol. It'll DO. Rigging got eazyer as I went along, many thanks to members who gave me great advice. BUT. Lol. Tangles be on believe lol. Snags and cut lines oh my . One thing I have learnt is if you feel a sneeze comeing on let go of the rope lol. Pile saps the final line to belaying point #27. Time to move on to the mainmast . I have thing to attend to tomorrow so no rigging. I could use a break lol. Oh how I hate that word lol 😆 . There is no rush, but it won't be long, this is diffinly the most challenging so far besides my first rigging of the Santa Maria. It maybe a little ruff around the edges but she make a fine addition to our data base. I study all the Duchess of Kingston logs there hopeing one day to see my name there, with the Finished mark in. Lol. Talk soon my freind, Bob M & the crew.

Well @Gabekmaybe not lol. I stared a swear jar for the Sea of Galilee Boat that I did awhile ago, 25 cents a word. In the past week I all most have enough for a Surprise. Dang, as they Texas lol. Today I got to thank @John Ruy for telling me about this rigging tool. I have one from the Hannah-SIB that I did as well. Completely forgot about it. I starting using it today and things went alot better. Way way better Thanks. lines still get crossed. Belaying is a Neanderthals night mare . Running all the lines for the Bowsprit mast and the foremast.we have them all tied on . Not glued because they may be adjustment later. Man I can't afford to break the Bowsprit mast any more, now that I have finished rigging it lol. Pile grabed a quick nap, but woke up screaming he was having a nightmare about me breaking the Bowsprit AGAIN lol Moving on to the mian mast then Mizzen mast.couple of days lol. Then the anchors and stand leaving only the optional ships boat lol Rigging is insanely fun frustrating work, but I am doing it lol. Thank you for stopping by and peeking in. I am grinning now. Pretty sure of what's left, but there is always surprises 😮. Knocklouder

Rigging the back stays was pretty good by the time I rigged it twice,on boths sides lol. I have the top yard Jeers on the foremast then I am going to tie the top yard on the main mast.I keep catching the lines so that will help. Rigging is really fun to do, I just wished I could steady the hands a bit. Lol.There so much to learn, I sure I spent two hours just looking at the other logs for her. The rigging continues, but buddy @Gabek and I were talking today , got me thinking about his 14' Yawl, and I need a diversion from the rigging. It going well , just so mant things to tangle up lol. Gabe also gave me some spare ones he had laying around lol On the one for the Duchess, he has it all cut out ready to go. So all I got to do is put A.B.C. together and get it painted. Goober took it over to the paint shop, have to pick some colors, well at least I be able to keep Gabe in my thoughts, he is such a kind hearted man. Thanks my friend. Making a stand for the ship's boat will be eazy, I am going to copy @DocRob stand, thanks, although mine may look different lol. Pile says make a list of what colors you used and where they go. We have many to put together. It is coming together nicely, and I have the rigging figured out almost lol. I am sure glad for MSW/NRG and the logs, all I got to do is copy and paste. He says with a grin. . Talk soon, watch your step hear it slippery out there. Knocklouder

I think they are the same just a different option on how you want it to look, just like the decision you will have to make for the hull. Copper tiles, copper tape or paint the hull. Like they say your boat, MSW just shows you how to make them float, it's builders choice Bob M. PS Plus what Keith says lol

Staining of hulls.
Knocklouder replied to serpe's topic in Painting, finishing and weathering products and techniques
Serpe, there are many types of finish, different bases ,,,,, for myself I like an oil base stain, if staining. Shelac is my go to sealer , then a flat clear coat. If what I am doing is clear coat, then a sealer, then latex varnish, oil varnish, wipe on Poly, the list is long. And yes even if you just clear oil finish the color will change. Another thing to consider is does the glue you will be using stick to your finish, when you decide which one, test it frist., Good luck Bob M. -

Well what can I say, I made all the parrles bracelets and she accepted them gladly. I had three to make two for the top G . And one for the main lower mast. . That broke yesterday. We got them all tied on, and we had 6 ribs left out of 28 , 20 were used I belive and 11 , trucks, little balls are left lol. Out of 70. I used 41 which means 18 went the way of bling heaven. I be finding them all over lol. But I have enough that's what counts. We moved on to tieing on the lower main and foremast yards mast ,and belaying it to pin 7 after I glued it to pin 14 lol. The fun never stops lol. Up next it's the lower foremast yard those lines go to pins 6 . Then I will rig the rest of the foremast, Care must be taken because there are two different sizes of thread on the back stays. The smaller one .25mm and the larger one .5mm natural tread, .5mm goes on the top the .25mm goes on the bottom you would think it's the other way around. SO, rigging continues lol. My plan is to rig the foremast first then the Main followed by the Mizzen mast. Then I should only have the two anchors and the stand. Rigging continues and the grin is getting bigger 😀 every day. I think she is going to look so amazing in the case. Taking a hint from @Glenn-UK I am going to slow it down A bit in order to do a better job. Study the plan and the results should be I get a better looking ship. HOLD , the phone, I forgot about the ship's boat. My buddy @Gabek has made me two that will fit the Duchess and two 18 foot cutters for my Pegasus and two I can't remember what size. If you add it all up I have lots to do to get this Duchess finished. I really ,lol, am going to slow down. I belive I am at the point were I know what to do just slow down and pay attention to details. Lol. I hope not to many of my friends spit on their screen at that comment lol. Today I would like to thank my freinds from down under, @BANYAN thanks for you help and @Louie da fly those two are amazing men. @Ryland Craze and several others thanks so much. So things should proceed properly from here on out to the end, I don't want to say finished it cause confusion 😅 😐 🙃. Thanks all Bob M. PFCGP Goober

Unfazed , hold off a bit on that , and as far as the Congratulations part as well , as for my sanity 😀. I was going to slip the parrel black bracelet that Neanderthal love to make, black pearly pretty little things ,.I slipped it around her main mast tied the knot so to speak. . Vowed from this day, stop right there, here the part that will scare you. She called it off tore off her parallels, yes ribs and balls, trucks I think. And I broke the Bowsprit mast, I don't want to talk about it. Lol. @DocRob Fear is False Evadince Apearing Real. So fear knot and go ahead and giver it is only string I am at the point were the masts are pinned in place. Work on the parrels continues...... yards need to be rigged , diagrams to be studied. Not sure if I could actually tell you at what point of the rigging I am at but it as clear as mud lol. But I do understand it. Just have to do it, Sorry for any confusion. Being confused I know how ya'll feel. I have this book by Frank Mastini really helpful for me, some lights went on and good diagrams to. I have gotten these glasses from Amazon and like them, my good most generous friend @Gabek has also given me these to try. I like them for figures but prefer the other ones for other work. Best part he does not want them back , so now I have two kinds so lucky for friends. Ok , now that everything is under control, breathe in, breathe out. And sanity has been restored, a walk out side at -45 take your pick on which scale you use its the same. Coldness.really cold lol. This is the best fun one could have, Vanguard Models are really fun to build, and they are beautiful ship as well. Let's see if I can get my bracelets on ,the yards rigging run, block and tackle tied on, sanity restored, to a point lol, Still have many to thank, again sorry for my confusion 😕. Bob M. & Crew. PS: Going to leave the Duchess in the case for 72 hrs. That will be a record for the Bowsprit mast being glued on lol.
