  1. hi guys. sorry it's been a while since my last post. I've been really busy and haven't had much time to work on my model.

I finally got around to finishing most of the rigging. and I am currently working on making sails.

    20230916_173950394_iOS.thumb.jpg.3911383db18d1c4cb4ced668582ee237.jpg20230922_231342879_iOS.thumb.jpg.a76b77ca0fd6f4fc19952af06d4799cc.jpg20230922_231407776_iOS.thumb.jpg.0eb3768a17321779ea381064b87e1cd1.jpg

there is still more rigging to do when I finish the sails, but that's all the rigging before the sails go on. the change from black to the tan lines is a little weird so I did all the Latters black to make it look like it's on purpose. I kind of like the look it gives the model a little more detail, I think.

  2. Here is an update on my masts. mostly completed.

    20230712_155441697_iOS.thumb.jpg.d8719a83f2aac26a8669d5e1ef051591.jpg20230712_160138234_iOS.thumb.jpg.cbc2a080ab1e8f69f96e83a24801bb7b.jpg20230712_160210571_iOS.thumb.jpg.9a4a02eed7962c7f843d1fe675853dfe.jpg20230712_160202177_iOS.thumb.jpg.c0eec0cb05fa0aaa92cdab510de6a236.jpg

next comes rigging.... which looks like it may be a pain to do some of it. but ill persevere.

though I did have a question, is it possible to bypass these and not do them? 20230712_160235539_iOS.thumb.jpg.6a8ceba133f550792decc1743a4ff59c.jpg

it was a really big slow pain to do what I did so far, so I was wondering if there's a faster way. also, I don't know how to make them all the same size either.

  3. hey gang it's been a while. I have been kind of busy lately, so I haven't had much time to do any work on the model. however, in the last week I've had a little time.

here are some photos of the deck buildings finished and installed. 20230705_143043499_iOS.thumb.jpg.6f36a935d6dba88836c0e3e314d57952.jpg20230705_143116327_iOS.thumb.jpg.8dc640001e99e57d652125c153261e5e.jpg

I made a few mistakes in building but there not noticeable. on the other hand, I did accidentally use a mast dowel for the stand, luckily, I had some long dowels laying around that I sanded down to the right size.20230705_143215473_iOS.thumb.jpg.0f1af7f074fcfc6d0ab50012406fca66.jpg

the mast is not glued in yet it's just there for show.

  4. okay, here is another update. I've been really busy the last few weeks, so I haven't gotten much done, but I am almost done with all the deck implements and buildings.

    20230530_162412195_iOS.thumb.jpg.4ce593e5384dff27f29358746479d83f.jpg20230530_162424228_iOS.thumb.jpg.d98641e9ffaa91eee2b288a4aa7f0dd2.jpg20230530_162431530_iOS.thumb.jpg.ee1e798b9a280b5e752435df545d7fa5.jpg

    this is my current build.

    20230530_162301520_iOS.thumb.jpg.c330abdd5aa2a5d4e161537287165f47.jpg20230530_162313758_iOS.thumb.jpg.83311973d4aae085f37cf3ecab50b974.jpg

then I had a question, on the next page of the instructions it shows how to build the lifeboats, but it says to use adessive tape to hold the sides to a frame, so you can pull the lifeboat off the frame. what type of adessive tape should I use? and what is a good brand? 20230530_163303491_iOS.thumb.jpg.316fe5a9b5126d037ed6b51dda2c6460.jpg

  5. yes, I am enjoying building this model! i really enjoyed putting the hull together, Tho currently trying to build and paint the tiny deck buildings is kind of not fun. but it's something I can put my spare time into, and it's really cool to see all the pieces of wood come together into a beautiful ship. thanks again!

  6. Here is a quick update, I've slowly been putting together the deck pieces. These are only the few I've completed so far.20230515_145152154_iOS.thumb.jpg.f26766142b3c46f52c293a69144a2df5.jpg20230515_145206635_iOS.thumb.jpg.6861736494e91bdfb408a02482fb4f0a.jpg20230515_145135599_iOS.thumb.jpg.59a2cca671fcd76a432059dc7303ed19.jpg20230515_145112764_iOS.thumb.jpg.a67128549958fc013eb5658ad9e3f086.jpg

there are a few metal pieces used in this model, the steering wheel is one, each I have to paint, the other ones (not shown) are going to be painted black, now I was thinking about putting a gloss coat on the black pieces, what do you guys think? is it going to make the pieces look better than just the plan black paint?

  7. i am sorry for the long delay, I've been kind of busy lately. any how I finished painting the hull. for the red I mixed navy blue and bright red together, there are about three coats of red on the hull. then two coats black, and like five coats of white. then to finish it I spraypainted a gloss coat over the hull.

oh, also sorry about my terrible pictures I am not an expert with the camera lol.

  8. I finished planking! and I sanded to where I am comfortable with the look. I built the spot where the rigging attaches to the deck.... can someone tell me the name of that spot please.

on the rudder I messed up with the medal pieces.. I must have read the wrong piece description in the back, it was a brass belt that was supposed to be used, I'm going to defiantly checking than rechecking part numbers and descriptions from now on. luckily, I didn't cut the pieces for the other side yet. 😬🙂20230425_194526305_iOS.thumb.jpg.f2e2ca60170ff7989babed7aa07349de.jpg

  9. Okay sorry for the delay in posts, I tend to only post every other day. but I work on the model every night from 10pm-12am. so anyway heres an update on my progress, I have started planking..... I think I'm doing it right from what I've seen from other posts, if not please correct me.

    20230415_124201390_iOS.thumb.jpg.dd05bcd8dd45a9d68d42a7f51ad59225.jpg20230415_124213914_iOS.thumb.jpg.c52c592a1baf793d258fb22060c9f50b.jpg20230415_124230465_iOS.thumb.jpg.fede46a5ba44bfb837bddeb5a895d79f.jpg20230415_124249564_iOS.thumb.jpg.8d72101de670c1a52f35f1ba914c6664.jpg20230415_124258924_iOS.thumb.jpg.ba022e3ac736e9e5f953224c803f1bc5.jpg

I will cut the planks on the bow a little later, probably when I start the other side.

  10. yes, the false deck is glued to the bulk heads. I made sure that the stern looks like the front when the false deck connects to the bulkheads. any little bumps I filed down. ( i never new how much filing was involved in modeling, thanks for the files there really useful.) and I'll keep the alcohol trick in mind. and thanks for answering the question.

  11. okay it took me a day to get this done, I had to fix that problem with the false keel. here are before and after pictures, and some notes on how I fixed this.

    20230412_153227028_iOS.thumb.jpg.f0f7aa09b9ad2bbab1506562146ebcc2.jpg20230412_153239011_iOS.thumb.jpg.cf793062716900737f2aba6005e9a6dc.jpg20230412_153251455_iOS.thumb.jpg.34a6cf68b2b70a02b006f281ec9567c0.jpg

as you can see the platform the deck will sit on is straight and that curve of the keel makes the frame stick out. So, I had the idea that if I slowly glue each bulkhead where I want it one at a time, it might straighten the keel out.

    20230413_161700993_iOS.thumb.jpg.9e3a350ffc5c21a0c95c56f185bfa233.jpg

the hard part about this method is trying to hold the board for the deck in place, so it's perfect with the bulkheads, because I had to slip rubber bands around basically the entire stern to hold it in place. but I managed.

    20230413_161651551_iOS.thumb.jpg.45fe73f3bf765e271cf3a77e277fbfb1.jpg20230413_161726001_iOS.thumb.jpg.26789605f51e0f54121ea36242665950.jpg

after that I did some of the decking, it needs a little more sanding, but I think it looks good. should the deck be smooth, and should every plank be flush with each other?

  12. I am new at this so I will do my best with this build log. help is welcome especially with planking since I have never done it before.

if these pictures are in file format, please tell me and I will keep trying to make them not files. another thing thanks to Azzoun for providing the model and tools.

that's the box. I have made the frame already, though it's not perfect. still needs some filing done to it.
