  1. She's looking good. I like the layout. We used to smear the gaskets with petroleum jelly to help with the water resistance. Bob
  2. great detail work. Showing a close up and then moving back to show how it all fits together gives us a feel for the ship. Bob
  3. "from time to time I have to identify which line goes to or come from where......, so gently pull at the other end and see which one moves...." I suspect on the full sized ships they frequently had to have a man at both ends of a line for the same reason. I'm not familiar with the "GAS TURBO" device in the lower left corner of the picture. Bob
  4. It reminds me of one placed where I worked the speed limit sign on the parking lot was, " 7.5 MPH" Because it was so strange it caught your attention every time you drove in. You need to do something similar to the "WATCH TOUR HEAD" sign like misspell one word or print one word upside-down. Bob
  5. I was surprised when I saw the pictures of the manifold trials. I thought I was the only one to have so much scrap. But then I remember someone saying, “If the scrap doesn’t outweigh the final product you’re doing something wrong”. Any way the final manifold looks great, and you should have no problem with the petrol vapor. Bob
  6. All those lines and at 1:64 at that. I would have such a knotted mess. You're doing great. Bob
  7. Getting everything to work together is quite an engineering feat, and you're doing a fine job. Bob
  8. Glad you're back and nice to see more work on the Harriet McGregor. Bob
  9. I was going through some old “Ships in Scale” magazines and ran across an article about building the Spray in a bottle. As you can see in the picture there are two boats. One in the bottle and one in the stopper. hanging in the neck of the bottle is a globe. Thought you might enjoy seeing it. 10. She looks so good even Captain Slocum would be proud of her. Well done. Bob
  11. "Greek restaurant that has tasteful furnishings and no TV's." Sounds top notch. Glad you had a good time. Oh ya, the motor looks good too. I like the petrol vapor carbonator. Bob
  12. Until you see the mast you forget how much sail these J boats carried. Looking good. Bob
  13. Hi Igor, I know what you mean. I carved a Slocum to sit on the cot reading, as in the picture. He never got into the boat. Too many people said . . . . Bob
  14. Thanks to all of you for your kind words and likes. I have to admit I agree with Popeye, if I’m going to build it into the boat, I want others to see it. On all my boats so far if I added something below decks I’ve left openings to see it. Or conversely, if you can’t see below decks, there’s nothing worth seeing. So at most I might put an edge of the roof all the way around. We’ll see. Bob
