  1. Patrick Thanks but it’s not nearly as small detailed as your lovely Rainbow. Ah yes Igor, I wish it were 48 times larger and that I lived on the coast. I think it would be fun to sail her. Thanks Carl as I built it I thought ‘what would I want if I were cruising her’. I’m reminded of reading about an old sailor that was getting a small sail boat ready for cruising and had the motor up on deck. A man on the dock watching as he kicked it over the side said, “What did you do that for?” The owner said, “I don’t understand motors, ant there’s a head down below that’s going the same place”. Michael I do not plan on a cabin roof, I want to leave it open so the cabin is visible. If I do put a roof on it I will make if removable. Thanks for the nice words, George. Bob
  2. I didn’t get much done this time. We had company from back east trying to get out of the snow and cold. I added the framing for the cabin roof and a little more trim and a little more paint. Now I’m calling the hull done. Yes I know there is that spot on the stack that needs to be touched up but that isn’t that much. Next will be the mast, spars, rigging and sails, Bob
  3. You're right. Nobody notices the planking or the deck details, even if some deck details are missing. But if what is there is not built neatly. That you hear about. Bob
  4. Ah, Igor, your Spray is looking great. Nice touch with the railing. Bob
  5. Those hand rails are great. I have trouble with them at 1:48. Bob
  6. Glad you're back. I've missed you and your build. Bob
  7. Thanks George. She's a fun build. I've had to use, "my little gray cells" quite a bit on this one. Bob
  8. Pete, if it ever goes into the water you'll be the first to know. Bob
  9. Don't know about you, but If I had finally got it working, I'd be doing a happy dance about now. Bob
  10. Beautiful work Michael. It won't be long before we hear a lovely buzz coming from your shop. Bob
  11. Cog, Omega1234, Gerty, Elia, Michael, Anton, David, Nils, Kees, Popeye and all the “likes”. Thanks for looking in and all the kind words. David your idea of painting instead of using paper sounds interesting I’ll have to try that some time. Never too old to learn. Not even me. Bob
  12. Igor thanks for all the information. Even among the many drawing there are differences one from the other. That is why I tried to build from the descriptions in Slocum’s book and the photographs. You are doing a fine job. Bob
  13. Lawrence thanks for looking in. The longer I live with the deck the better I like it. So here’s where I am now. I made a new cabin/cockpit wall. To make the windows holes sharp they were trimmed with brass. The walls were then painted and mounted in the deck. The lower edge of the cabin wall was trimmed with mahogany and a piece was placed around the top to attach the cabin roof frames. There is also a piece of mahogany trim on the top edge of the cockpit wall. Now it’s about time to glue the deck to the hull. Bob
  14. The rails look good, the boxes look good, the boat looks good. What more can be said. Bob
  15. I have all the Russian drawings. I have just not seen the spray built to those drawings. I'm looking forward to it. Bob
  16. When I was learning watch repair I learned that if you squeeze too tight you loose the part and also periodically you need to reshape the ends of the tweezers to be parallel instead of flaring apart. Bob
  17. I see your using the Russian drawings. They're different than all the others. Now I'll get to see something new. Bob
  18. Good job! That was the hard part, the rest won't take long and the a drum sound to set the pace. Bob
  19. Thanks for the info. The data you took really doesn't look that bad. I've seen a lot worse. Your next step in AutoCad is what I do and then offset for the planking and frames if needed. Bob
  20. The ballast keel and rudder with extension look good. Don’t be afraid of the curves in the deck. It planks up the same as the hull. I like the color. Bob
