I'm planning on removing a section of the hull planking on my Syren build to expose the frames. Does anyone know what the width of the frames are for a brig during the 1800's? I'm drafting the frames onto the plans included in with the Model Ship Ways Syren kit and I can't get them spaced correctly using an 18" wide frame. I did a little research, but could not find a satisfactory plan set that showed the frames. I finally used the frame dimensions off of the plan set for the frigate HMS Triton Cross Section that I am currently building. The Triton plans show a triple frame arrangement under each gun port and the frames between the the gun ports are single frames at a set spacing. When I transfer this frame arrangement to the draft on the Syren plans, it just doesn't work. My guess is the frames are too wide at 18" Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Byrnes table saw accessories
bbrockel replied to Neill's topic in Modeling tools and Workshop Equipment
Neill, I agree with Erik and Rusty. The extended rip fence, zero clearance inserts and the .040 slitting blade, are the items I use the most. I made my own miter extension out of a piece of hard wood so, yes, definitely the miter extension. Been thinking about the the micro stop and some additional blades down the road, but I'll order those when the time comes. -
Greg, thank you for the insite to a real craftsman at work. Great joinery and nice clear pictures of your work in progress. You give us all something to strive for.

Surprise Discovery of AL Charles Morgan
bbrockel replied to Shazmira's topic in Wood ship model kits
You must have been very excited when you found your buried treasure. I started my first build in 1993 and I also purchased the Charles W. Morgan fron AL. I wasn't prepared for the lack of instructions not included with the kit. I finished the hull planking and the deck before I sold it to another ship builder. I'd love to see you start a build log for your Morgan. -
Really like the bottle, Dan. Your hull carving of the Santa Maria looks like a fun build from here on out. Have fun with this one.

Bob, have fun at the Admiralty Workshop. I envy you your proximity to their workshops. Colorado is a fer piece for me to travel to attend. Your keel looks great. Nice work on the treenails and the caulking. -
Frank, glad to see you back here once again. Your HMAT Supply, I see, is continuing with your usual fine work.

Thank you all for the very kind comments. Sjors, I copied the gantry-style build board from Mike41 over at Model Ship Builder web site. I've added the link to Mike's thread on building the build board. Take a peek, it's pretty easy to construct. http://www.modelshipbuilder.com/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?5571.0
