Hi Patrick, I know of one builder on this site who is shortly to begin a Ballahoo build, I myself considered her too before picking up a Sherbourne and a Convulsion, I'll be starting a build log for in the New Year for Sherbourne (Kester 'Stockholm Tar, previous post above, convinced me to begin with her from our conversation in a different log ) Ballahoo is a nice wee boat, and you'll have no end of help on here should you get yourself a little stuck or have questions, and also no end of encouragement to see you to the builds end too. Pick up the little schooner and before you know it you'll have started your own little group Ballahoo Builders. Good to see you up and running again.. have had a few disasters myself in the past (one model in particular had damage to the bowsprit which I glued back together fairly quickly only for my fingers to become part of the fix, yup CA glue, moved my fingers away in a lavish 'Ta Da' gesture and the whole kit ended up on the ground again.. the really embarrassing aspect of this is that it happened once more!!! needless to say the air was fairly blue around me for quiet a while, learnt a valuable lesson that day.. SLOW FINGER MOVEMENTS AROUND MODELS ) incidentally the offending counterweight is from I assume an Astronomical Scope, what is it? have a couple of Celestrons here myself a 10'' reflector and a 9.25 CAT. That is gut wrenching news Jim, I have been following along with your progress in silence for a while now. I know just how heavy those counterweights are and can only but imagine the aftermath! Ballahoo looks a fun project and I do hope you will set up a build log. (even put a link to it here that we may follow your progress again) Try not to be too disheartened and I wish you and yours a great Holidays. Eamonn

Looks grand to me Ollie, not sure if a ships bell would be black so that finish seems ok. Eamonn BTW you must be cornering the market in Valve Adaptors at this stage.. Keep up the great work!

I can relate to that John, still have nightmares about Calculus.. I particularly remember one Applied Maths lecture in Plymouth, we were all sat there in our suits when the Lecturer announces solemnly to us 'Tomorrow gentlemen we shall have differentiation' just as a clap of thunder & flash of lightening went off, all very Count from Sesame Street !! we struggled not to laugh

This build puts a smile on my face every time I look in. The smile just gets bigger when you put a photo up that shows her in relation to something else (tweezers or a hand drill for example) Loving it Eamonn

Some nails have square pointy ends too, so tapping one into the desired area will give a square hole.. just don't tap them in too far Eamonn

Totally agree with all the previous posters.. when you have done the grey upper hull the red will 'sit back' so fear not also the illusion at the moment is that there is a lot of it (red paint) but when you have it all nice and straight this will also make the red 'sit back'.. if you follow me Eamonn

I know I said no more hints guys but this is just to say that ye both already have half the ships name!! Am actually laughing myself at just how close ye both are without realising.. Just eliminate till you get to the 'bit' mentioned in both posts (and my own from Jays 'Photo Question' earlier) When ye find the Word in common the race will be on to see who puts it all together first ! Bill can I back-track you a bit.. you mentioned 'Scoring and Gluing' earlier to straighten the false keel (sorry to bring you so far back, but a lot of posts happened in the middle there whilst I was away from the computer:) ) Could you describe this technique to me as I haven't heard of it before. True, I couldn't have done it without your help Nigel.. Maple Syrup ! boy was I on the wrong tack there... How I arrived at the boats name is in the edit to my post over-leaf, yup at almost 2 in the morning!! Thanks for the info link Jay, I like that little boats have a great history too. My next ship will give you a laugh when you get to its name... that's the only hint you are getting.. tis a good hint too judged by our last few posts! Eamonn
