Thank you, Patrick, I am hoping that this one turns out as well as the second one, and will be able to Sail like the first one. Thank you, Michael, I plan to add a lot moreTeak to this one, and will be taking more time to build. ( I have put my Bags back on, and am in the process of building a few Custom Homes) so for the most part I will be building this Boat on the weekend's ( and whenever I can squeeze in an hour here or there ) I am catching up on your Bristol Pilot Cutter, that is an amazing Boat Thank you, Nils, So far, She is coming out right on the money, I am very pleased with the results Best Regards, Pete

After some time away from model building ( about 3 months ), I finally have enough of a break to get a start on building the Buzzards Bay 14ftr. Designed by L. Francis Herreshoff. This will be my 3rd build log on this topic ( I have always had an admiration for this Boat ), However this build will be done in the upside down fashion.( the other 2 were built using a Keel/strongback setup ), I belive that building the Boat in this manner will ( the same as if it were built full scale ), will give a more accurate boat. I started by setting up the building jig, Cutting out the frames and setting them up in the jig. Here are the results

Thank you Patrick, the hardest part is now being home ( we got in last night ) and getting everything cleaned up, and making a list of the things that I will need for the Boat. ( I would love to have a smaller jib & a 130% Genoa to complete my Sail inventory ) Thank you Michael, Here are a few more Sailing pics , Next I will have to set up the Shipyard and get this Volvo buttoned up Best Regards, Pete

I have not posted anything in a while ( truth of the matter I have not been on the internet in a while) Kate and I have been sailing the past few months and are getting ready to go home ( in about 2 weeks ) here are a few shots of what its been like (very relaxing with some great Sailing ) the Boat handles beautifully ( even in a 30 knot breeze ) I should be back in the Boat Yard soon. BTW Thanks for all the birth day wishes

Hello waikiwi, Thank you for the compliment, to get the drawings, I took the profile plan, copied it on my flash drive, I then went to Kinko's copies had them print it out, I then took my architect's scale and subtracted a percentage of the original drawing to get the drawings to 1/4" = 1' - 0" ( it took some trial and error ) Best Regards, Pete

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
