Today was Wing Keel day for Stars and Stripes , I started by bringing the last plank down to the Keel Line. Then I faired it in, Next using the Plans, I made the wing , I then built up the Keel to the Trim Tab , and faired it in . Then I attached the wing and built it up . And started to fair it in. A little more fairing on the wing and she is just about ready for paint. Here are the results

Today , I was able to get alot of work in on A3 . I planked the boat and started Fairing the Hull , The Transom ( or lack of a transom ) was the tricky part . Other than that smooth as silk , I am looking at a simple keel design wich should be fairly straight forward, and a final fairing . Here are the results

Thanks Omega, There is no problem with Stars & Stripes, It was a larger boat that I had been researching for the past 3 months . I had the drawings for Stars & Stripes and Australia II for about 15 years . its easy to get drawings off the net , However if you want accurate numbers/ Drawings you will have to talk to the design firm that drew the boat Best Regards, Pete

This Morning , It was decided that I would shelf my next build ( too many complications) Kate ( my Wife )said it would be a good Idea to put it down for a while. ( She is always right in these matters ) Anyway I was looking at IACC plans , And found that A3 has an intresting hull shape . So I decided to build Her in the same manner as the other 2 Cup Boats ( Australia II & Stras & Stripes ) a Hull only build , in the same scale . I was fortunate enough ( Living in Southern California ) to go to the Races , and see the boat's wich replaced the 12 meter Yacht's. It was a Facinating America's Cup , with the New Zealand Bowsprit scandal , Paul Cayard becomming a Italian Citizen ( He was the tactician for Tom Blackaller for the 87' cup ) Any way here is where I am at with the Build ,The Hull Planking will be done today . It look's Like the Pete48 Syndicate will be building 4 Boats for this Campaign . Here are the results

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
