  5. Thanks Geoff, I try not to disappoint , She's practically building herself Hi Omega, it's a very intresting design, it looks like the front half of a larger boat. It's alot easier to Build than an America's Cup Boat . It's almost a hard chine with a round bilge . Here is a shot of her upside down so you can see the Keel slot , I also brushed on Titebond 3 to the under side of the deck and frames Best Regards, Pete
  6. Another great day with the Boat ( day 2 ) I started by making the Keel slot and Mast step in the Back Bone, I then trued up the frames and installed them. Next I made the deck and installed it. I then faired the frames for about 3 hours and started Planking ( my favorite part of the build ) Iinstalled the first 2 rows of planking, She's going together like Butter. I glued everything together with Titebond 3.( it's Waterproof ) Next will be to finish planking the Hull , and get her ready for West System Epoxy. She's an Amazingly fun boat to build . Here are the results
  7. Thank you Marc, I will have to look into that , I like the look of the Ericsson Boat , she's pretty sweet Best Regards, Pete
  8. Hi Nils, those are the only 2 books that I have ever needed , everything else I have found on the net, and right here on this forum , and now we will have access to the NRG. so we are in a good spot Best Regards, Pete
  9. Hi Michael, Advertising on a J-boat, does not work for me . I am going to use the same Blue on the Hull that I used on Stars & Stripes, with a White Deck , Yellow accents and Flat Black on the Spars , Rudder Blades and Keel , She should look pretty good Color wise . Best Regards, Pete
  10. Hi Crckers, I see that you are a fellow Spud ( for those that don't know , if you live in Idaho you are a Spud) Welcome aboard. I will be trueing up the frames and installing them today. 16. Well, Today I had a great first day with the Boat. I started by laying out the Back bone and setting up the builing jig ( square is square & level is level ) I next cut out the Back bone and layed out the frames, The first thing I changed was the transom , now the deck goes all the way to the transom. I then cut out all the Frames, and started to detail the Cockpit section of the Boat. Next will be to make the Deck sections and detail the Back bone for the Keel ( wich will remain stationary ) I dry fit all the frames to the Back bone, and she is right on the money. ( this was a much needed great first day on the build ) This is quite a different boat, This is the first time I have built anything like this, It's been amazingly fun . Here are the results
  17. Thank's Hans, I have been learning alot about these boats and the new rules. Yes I am building a imaginary version based on the camper plans, as a fun project with my own Color sceme . to imagine that I would be entering it into this years race . I know my boat does not meet the new rules changes. They are incredible boats. ( I just discovered them a few weeks ago ) My knowlege of Racing Yacht's is Primarily with the America's Cup Boat's . I am having fun learning about this extreme Sailing Thank's Cap'n'Bob, Pretty wild,I just discovered these Boats Should be fun Thank you Kees,I hope you enjoy it Best Regards, Pete
  18. Hi Marc, for this boat I got the lines drawing off the net , and am using the Brunel Sail plan. here is the lines drawing Best Regards, Pete
  19. Thank's Omega, She is very well designed, the bow section is incredible, bottom paint and the deck and she's just about finished Thank you Geoff, I am pleased with the paint Best Regards, Pete
  20. Thank you Marc, Hans explained it like this I quote ) These boats have daggerboarts because they use a canting keel with the ballast attached to it. The keel is only used for maximizing (optimizing) the stability of the boat and has almost no function as creator of lateral lift for upwind purposes. The 2 asymmetric daggerboarts are used for that purpose. Makes sense to me Best Regards, Pete
  21. Beautiful work Nils, The masting looks fantastic, Incredible Best Regards, Pete
  22. Thanks Keith, , Welcome aboard, Hans Answered the dagger board question, (I wont be adding the dagger boards, as I intend to sail this one and the Keel should be enough ) Thank you Hans, I am a student of the series, and I appreciate the help Thanks Tom , thats part of the fun, seeing the boats in action Thanks Bob, The graphics are very cool on these boats , I am using the Brunel boat for my sail plan ( sweet looking boat ) I did not see the maserati boat , that's Awesome , should be a fun project Best Regards, Pete
