  1. Here's an article I read a few days ago (I'm a history buff, but I digress) https://warfarehistorynetwork.com/2017/03/14/engineering-excellence-political-dysfunction-mercedes-benz-in-wwii/
  2. Looks great, Jack. As for the lights... don't tell anyone you didn't use them all. If I remember right, the two down low were for fog. Then two for "low beams" and two more for the equivalent of "high beams".
  3. Nice article and a nice tribute to your father, OC.
  4. OC, I won't go into Tiny Hands..... Well... I got the guns done and installed. I tried (with limited success) to match the mount to what we really had. It was steel tube that fit into two mounts and held in place with pins (removable). On top of that was another bit of pipe. The gun had a mount on it similar too what the grunts, tanks, B-s from WWII had. You could lift the gun up and carry it off. No ammo boxes or any real detail as this was fiddly enough for me. I'm currently mounting the windows, interior and waiting for the glue to dry. Sorry about the pictures being a bit blurry... extreme zoom and possibly a bit too much coffee. When I'm finished with this build, I'm going back to wooden ships.... not so fiddly.
  5. Welcome to MSW.
  6. Yeah, there's a difference in kit manufacturer's products. It was happening way back when as kits doing the model cars. Every manufacturer had their own ideas on how the models should look and what was important and and what wasn't. The more things change, the less they really do.
  7. Keith, Get a thin layer of foam (maybe packaging type) and lay in on the mill bed when changing bits. I started doing it because they'd hit the bed and run off into space. Now they stay on the bed.
  8. We do have a list of pirate companies (see below) who's kits are banned from MSW. I hope this might help you get the word out about them.
  9. John, Why not open a build log? That way, we can follow along and see what you're doing.
  10. Modeller_masa, I can't like your post enough.
  11. I think the wooden space ships/craft/things should go in the "non-ship" area as here at MSW, ships are normally those the only float above or below the ocean surface. With that in mind, flying boats should go there also ("non-ship").
  12. You're a better man than I, Gunga Din... Out of 6 .50 cal.s, I have 2. They ended up looking better than the other 4. Once they dry I'll up date my log. I think part of problem, Lou, is that we've lost our touch or maybe it's just our confidence. Haven't done this stuff in decades and we're beating ourselves up because "it didn't used to be this hard". Personally, I'll be glad to go back to wood at a lot larger scale so I can actually see what I'm doing. Hmm.... hang on... "maybe it's just our eyes?" he says reaching for a good excuse.
  13. Thanks for the link, OC. It's an interesting program.
  14. Nice rework. After seeing the original and your change, the new version does look a lot better.
  15. Trying to build a flying Mosi? I shudder think of what that entails. Like where would you find two engines for it? That sounds like a massive project.
  16. Maybe something like this would work?
  17. Beautiful, OC. I was reading (again) and by-perchance the article was about the Pacific theater of operation and the Mosi's. Seems they had a rough time with the humidity and seams opening, warpage, bits falling off, etc. The factory did some serious rework and fixed them so they wouldn't have the problems.
  18. No matter how big the chopper might be, it's still way more fragile than a fixed wing aircraft. As I recall, that director took a huge hit in the resulting lawsuits as the insurance companies for the studio and the film wouldn't go any where near it.
  19. Just having one of those days... parts flying around, breaking. I think I've ended up with 2 guns that'll work. Once there mounted to the gun racks and installed, I'll do some photos. Also, fuselage is now painted but needs some touch-ups which I'll do once I glue the halves together. To be honest, I don't understand how RGL and others work with stuff so tiny.
