Hi Keith Your prop - now, that’s an absolutely magnificent piece of metal workmanship. It definitely sets the standard for the rest of the build. I’m glad That you’re able to start making sawdust now, too. Cheers Patrick

Hi Josh Great job on the hull and decking so far. I reckon she’s going to shape up to be a little beauty. Good luck with the rest of the build. I’ll be watching and enjoying the journey. Cheers Patrick

Hi folks. Just a quick update on the progress of Genesis’ RIB tender. Almost finished, apart from some finessing and sanding. I hope you enjoy the following photos. Thanks Patrick

Hi folks Thanks for all of your Likes and comments. Appreciated, as always. I decided to have a go at doing Genesis’ RIB tender. The photos are pretty self-explanatory, but suffice to say, there’s a fair way to go, before I can call this tender ‘finished’. It’s a start, though. Have a great night. Cheers. Patrick

Hey Steve What a top job you’ve done on the John Cudahy. It was unfortunate about snipping the wrong wire, but, you got over that pretty easily by the looks of it. You’re on the home stretch now. Not long to go. Cheers Patrick

Many thanks Marcus. Yep, tiny for sure! So tiny, that I lost three previous chairs to the carpet monster earlier that night. Hungry little beast, that carpet monster😉😉😉 Cheers Patrick

Hi Keith Many thanks for your comment above. Yep, I agree that she’s a design that takes some getting used to, but, therein lies the attraction for me, I guess. As as a side note, looking back at the construction process so far, I can’t help but think why, oh why, did I go like a ‘bull in a China shop’ and do all the detail work, instead of the painting first? Now, I’ve got to start to think about how I’m going to sand and paint the hull and superstructure with all the detailed stuff in the way. Oh well, such is life, I guess... Cheers Patrick

Happy New Year, folks! Thanks for all of your Likes and comments on Genesis’ progress. A quick update. I’ve been working on Genesis’ bridge over the past few days. So far, I’ve managed to make the four chairs for the skipper and other crew members that man the bridge. Off to one side there’s another chair and chart table for the Navigator. Immediately opposite on the other side, there’s a small L-Shaped settee and a table. Still lots of work to go. Have fun! Cyeers Patrick

Congratulations on doing those head rails, Phil. They’re looking fantastic. I know, from past experience just how tricky they are to do, so well done. Cheers Patrick

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
