  1. Hey you guys. Quit being mean to me. I just suggested it. I didn't say I was smart.... !!!!! Hehehe
  2. Hey Bob Thanks! I'm with ya, now. Druxey did an amazing job on his barge. I'm sure that you'll do the same as well. Cheers Patrick
  3. Hi folks Thanks heaps for all of your comments and Likes. Much appreciated! Well, Shadow's journey continues. Before I can start on any of her internal details, I've decided that it is essential to build the superstructure and it's supporting decks, namely the Main, Upper and Sun Decks. Once they're done, then I can safely start on the internal accommodation. As you can see from the photos, the decks are really at a very rough and early stage, so they don't look terribly spectacular Here's hoping that with a healthy dose of magic by Nenad's worker ants , the 'diamond in the rough' will be transformed into a little jewel (well....let's hope so). Cheers and all the best! Patrick
  4. Hi Bob An edwardian Steam Launch? Would that be similar to what Michael Mott is building? If so, I can just imagine how well you're going to do all of the metal work in the steam engine and pipes. Looking forward to seeing you start. Cheers Patrick
  5. Hi WoodButcher That's funny. It seems that you and I both have a mutual friend. His name is Putty!!! And...very useful he is, too, because I use it so much ! I really like what you've done so far. The last photo shows what looks to be a nicely faired hull, with a well defined chine and garboard plank. Nicely done! The other thing that surprised me is the length of the hull; i.e. 40cms. The reason being that my initial thought was the use of popsicle sticks meant that the hull would've been much smaller. However, it looks like you've used them really well and compensated for the bulkhead issue that you mentioned. I'm looking forward to seeing your next updates! Cheers Patrick
  6. Hi Denis Very nice work on the gallows. Like you, I'm not sure how it's all going to come together, what with the gallows, booms and lines, etc, but I'm sure looking forward to seeing how you do it. All the best for the weekend! Cheers Patrick
  7. Hi WoodButcher It looks like you're off to a great start. I'm definitely taking a front row seat! The link to the Antares that you've provided looks like she's going to be a beauty. Can I ask what size/scale you're building at? Cheers Patrick
  8. Hi Nenad Mmmm! Your Worker Ants were gratefully accepted and have been put to good work! However, the boss ant says that he misses your workshop and Her Majesty. I fear a mutiny is on the cards as they try to jump ship and head back your way!!!! It's so unfair.... Seriously though, you've gotta be really proud of what you've done. It's a joy to follow your journey. All the best! Cheers Patrick
  9. Hey Mike Super work on the Keelson! With all of those joints, angles, edges, etc, it's almost as if you've created the perfect blend between craftsmanship, engineering and just sheer talent! Nicely done! Cheers Patrick
  10. Hi Bob Wow, wow and triple wow! Love your work. It seems like you're really cracking along nicely. You must be coming to an end, soon. Any hints as to what your next ship's gonna be? All the best! Cheers Patrick
  11. Hi Kees I'm kinda glad that you didn't dispatch your cat ! However, it doesn't matter how you got back to building again; the important thing is that you're back at it...and that's all that matters. So, in a nutshell, I'm looking forward to your regular updates. Take care and welcome back! Cheers Patrick
  12. Hi Frank Lovely work! In fact, you've done such a good job on those topgallant stanchions, that their symmetry and uniformity (as shown in the eighth photo), kinda reminds me of a squad of soldiers marching in unity across the parade ground. You know, prim, proper, perfectly straight and in-line. I guess what I'm saying, is 'nice and precise', once again, Frank! Cheers Patrick
  13. Hi Kees It's great to see you back posting again. Your work station looks really nicely set up now. Hopefully it won't be too long before you're back building again. All the best! Patrick
  14. Thanks Nils! You're one busy chap, that's for sure. But, when you love what you're doing, time doesn't really matter, does it? Enjoy and thanks for the info. Cheers Patrick
  15. Hi Nenad You know, it's often said that a model ship is built up of many tiny individual models, all of which come together to form the whole model. Your pump and WC cabinet are glorious models in their own right. Marvellous! Cheers Patrick
  16. Thanks Nenad. I think I could definitely do with a boat-load of your worker ants! They'd be most welcomed, that's for sure. Cheers Patrick
  17. Hi Nils - Thanks! I definitely agree with you about her shape. Sleek, yet powerful! HI Bob. Yep, each deck will lift out...well, that's the plan, anyway. Incidentally, Shadow has five decks - Bilge, Lower, Main, Upper and, lastly the Sun Deck. This is going to be a fun build! Cheers Patrick
  18. Hi everyone A quick update. As I mentioned earlier, it's essential for me that Shadow's decks are all lined up accurately; failure to do so, will mean that the internal build will suffer. Therefore, I've continued to work on the correct locations of the internal bulkeads, staircases, deck heights etc, starting from the Bilge Deck and working upwards. I've also started to build the Upper Deck's superstructure (that's the green cardboard thingy that's sitting atop Shadow's hull in one of the photos. Still loads more to go, folks! Enjoy the remainder of your weekends! Cheers Patrick
  19. Hi Nils - Busy as a bee is true. But compared to your KWDG, Shadow is only marginally more complex than one of your ship's lifeboats! On the other hand, the apple was very tasty, I must admit! Hi Bob - Thanks and even I'm surprised at how quickly I'm galloping ahead with Shadow's construction. Much faster than I expected, that's for sure. Thanks Carl - you and me both! Stay tuned for the next update... Hi Frank - Many thanks and gratefully appreciated. If truth be told, I don't know if 'masterpiece' is the right word, but I'll be happy if it at least looks passable and bears some resemblance to the real ship (Mary Jean II). Here's hoping...! Hi Lawrence - Thanks for your compliments and great to have you onboard Grab a seat and enjoy the ride! Cheers Patrick
