  1. Thanks Rusty, I’ll carry on. I’m probably being overly cautious on this one. I want to use this opportunity to take my modeling to the next level with the Winchelsea. JJ
  2. Ok thanks Chuck, I was thinking that would be the case but I wanted to double check. All bulkheads you see are currently glued in place. I did move one of the upper tabs to the center by using alcohol to soften the glue but that’s a messy chore. Once I start the longitudinal framing then I will be extra careful to keep everything straight. I was thinking about using my calipers to measure bulkhead distances and then cutting blocks for the bulkheads to keep even spacing at the outboard sides.
  3. Hey guys, slowly making progress on the bulkheads. I’ve noticed a slight banana in the tops of some of the bulkhead former tabs, my build board is holding the keel straight, but is this going to cause a larger problem down there road?
  4. I had the same issue with my drawings, I even brought my stainless ruler to check scale and it appeared ok but when I fitted my aft bulkhead former it was off exactly as yours above... if they would just let us run the plotter! Very frustrating.
  5. Today I got the rabbit strip on along with the bevels and the bearding line. I’m almost finished with my second head knee, we will see how it looks tomorrow, I’ll use the best one. Should be able to start dry fitting all the bulkheads tomorrow and Make any necessary adjustments, if any. So far so good. If anything looks out of place let me know. JJ
  6. Thanks Chuck! Well done on the design, very impressive drawings as well. I hope I can build it to meet your standard. JJ
  7. Made a little progress today, I may end up redoing the head knee, one of the gaps is a little large. Also plotted my drawings out today and the came out ever so slightly under scale!😭 so I need to have some plotted again. Dry fitted some frames for fun, everything looks and fits well. JJ
  8. Alright guys, finally getting started. Going to be slow at first as I need wrap up the Connie but I’ll start making progress soon. JJ
  9. Thank you Chuck and Jack, as I approach that stage I will make a decision on whether or not I will paint. I’ll likely build as intended using boxwood as you described Chuck. JJ
  10. I am a big fan of the boxwood carvings, but I am curious about painting the carvings. Will any of them require painting? I’ve seen a lot of admiralty models with painted carvings. If this is the case then perhaps the cast resin ones would be appropriate and boxwood for ones that need to remain natural finish.
  11. I didn’t even see them in stock again!!! I Check every day. I need some kind of alert system!
  12. Very impressive work Chuck, I like the edge bending technique. Will be adopting this method for sure. JJ
  13. Hi Chuck, Will you be adding the billets of cedar for planking to your store? I’d like to purchase everything including the wood needed for milling once you have the starter packs available again...ship it all at once. Thanks, JJ
  14. Hi Tim, thanks for the offer, but I believe the current configuration differs from the corne painting of 1805. The book has been pretty helpful as well as some contemporary models of the ship. JJ
  15. I hear ya...I don’t mind paying for some convenience, I have a very small work space/storage. Every little bit you provide helps me continue my hobby. Bringing a saw aboard to mill planks will be a big move! JJ
  16. Hi Chuck, Will you be listing these separately in your store then? I would like to purchase a few sets when your starter packs come in. Thank you, JJ
  17. I’m building constitution to roughly circa 1805-12 based on one of cornes paintings. Not sure how accurate I am but it’s turning out well. Need a lot of work on the transom still.
  18. I do have the book, it’s very useful if you are building constitution as she appears now. JJ
  19. Thank you Tim, it’s still under construction. I will start a build log elsewhere on the project so people can follow. I’ve deviated quite far from the model expo kit, it’s been a lot of scratch build. JJ
  20. Hi Guys, excited to start this awesome project! Chuck, I plan to utilize as much laser cut products as designed by you as I can. I will probably be building in Alaskan cedar or what ever other wood may be recommended at whatever point. My shop space and resources are extremely limited and always on the move so I will be treating this like a kit as much a possible. Thanks for following, looking forward to this! JJ
  21. Excellent work Chuck! Can’t wait to get my hands on this! Sooner the better! regards, JJ
