I p/u this little gem some time back and I like this scale 1) If you just want to build and that's it wal la 2)you can detail and make a dio which I think is were I want to take my skills? So this is a test run got Big Mo in there on one pic which will be my second water dio with a destroyer escort.I have about 10hr in the Maya ATTM.Thks for looking I do have some generic 1/700 railing the Maya will get and she will get some rigging ..

I have had this come up when laying a gloss black sometimes that is really akin to a real lacquer paint meaning it it has a fast drying agent smell almost like acetone. The paint in that case can glob on the my Badger Airbrush little tips on the edge and I had a car painter on another forum it was humidity and temperature so now it's cold in my room. But ,back to the pebbles don't go the sandpaper route quite yet go to a paint shop or parts house and get an 800 grit scotch brite it contours to the plastic and levels the paint it's a must when I do Alclad silver on my aircraft before the silver goes down and the more you use the softer it gets. Kevin I tried some AK paint on a little F-6AQ Recce Mustang just for the wing bands straight from the bottle no thinning sprayed smooth and level kinda liked it.I spray enamels mainly Model Masters or Humbrol and what I like about enamels is you have all night before you have to clean your gun unlike your acrylics you have to be quick.I lost one badger airbrush because I was not through enough and the needle seized in the gun(I broke the brass w/nut twisting) and all I had to do was soak it in ammonia.

If you are concerned about it Smore the very bottom of the pontoons would be the same color as the bottom of the plane and it shows in the pic look at the forward part of the back pontoon and the piece jutting out the bottom of the front pontoon at the rear.Camo.

I think the weathering/highlights look just fine.A story I was painting a Ki-45 Nick 1/48 pale green/darker blotches with the dark blotches done by brush.I did 1/2 of the plane about 1 1/2 hrs of work put it down and came back later the next day actually.I started repainting and crap the blotches were turning out different and the pattern was off??It's all a creative process and one cannot always tap the mood from the day before it was the 2nd time this occurred now I paint in one sitting.Keep that in mind and the formula you used if you walk away keep the paint with the kit. Kevin I know this from a long ways back but just something I have learned. Now back to pg6 got lots of catching up.

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
